5. Setup
5.1. Battery Installation
This tool requires an 18V Bosch battery (sold separately). To install the battery, align the battery pack with the base of the tool and slide it in until it clicks securely into place. Ensure the battery is fully charged before use.
5.2. Attaching Bits and Sockets
The GDX18V-1800CN features a two-in-one chuck for both 1/4 inch hex bits and 1/2 inch square drive sockets.
- For 1/4 inch Hex Bits: Pull the red collar forward, insert the hex bit into the chuck, and release the collar. The bit should lock securely.
- For 1/2 inch Square Drive Sockets: Push the socket directly onto the square drive until it clicks into place. To remove, pull the socket firmly off the drive.

5.3. Optional Connectivity Module (GCY 42)
If you have the optional Bosch Connect Tool Module (GCY 42), you can install it into the designated slot at the base of the tool's handle. This module allows for tool customization and feedback via the Bosch Toolbox app on your smartphone.

6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Powering On/Off
To power on the tool, simply press the variable speed trigger. The tool will operate as long as the trigger is depressed. Release the trigger to power off.
6.2. Forward/Reverse Rotation
A switch located above the trigger controls the direction of rotation. Push the switch to the left for forward rotation (tightening) and to the right for reverse rotation (loosening). Ensure the switch is in the center position when not in use to prevent accidental starting.
