Regular cleaning and maintenance will prolong the life of your Berkel slicer and ensure hygienic operation. Always unplug the appliance before cleaning.
General Cleaning:
- Daily Cleaning: After each use, wipe down all surfaces with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
- Blade Cleaning: Exercise extreme caution. It is recommended to use a specialized blade removal tool (often sold separately) to safely remove the blade for thorough cleaning. If not removed, carefully wipe both sides of the blade with a damp cloth, moving from the center outwards.
- Food Carriage: Remove the food carriage and wash it with warm soapy water. Rinse and dry completely.
- Product Care: The manufacturer recommends hand washing only for all removable parts. Do not immerse the main unit in water.
Blade Sharpening:
Over time, the blade may become dull. A dedicated blade sharpener (often sold separately) is required to maintain the blade's sharpness. Follow the instructions provided with your sharpener for proper use.
Storage:
Store the slicer in a clean, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the blade is clean and dry before storage.
