4. Installation (Setup)

The Mosion Auto Carbon Rear Wing Trunk Spoiler is designed for straightforward installation using adhesive tape. Professional assistance is recommended for optimal results.

4.1 Tools and Materials Required:

  • Rubbing Alcohol or Isopropyl Alcohol
  • Clean Microfiber Cloths
  • Masking Tape
  • Heat Gun or Hair Dryer (optional, for colder temperatures)

4.2 Installation Steps:

  1. Clean the Installation Area: Thoroughly clean the surface of the vehicle's trunk where the spoiler will be mounted. Use rubbing alcohol and a clean microfiber cloth to remove any wax, grease, dirt, or debris. Ensure the surface is completely dry before proceeding.
  2. Test Fit the Spoiler: Carefully place the spoiler on the trunk lid without removing the adhesive backing. This step allows you to determine the exact positioning and alignment. Use masking tape to mark the desired placement on the trunk lid.
  3. Prepare Adhesive: If your spoiler comes with pre-applied 3M tape, ensure the red protective backing is still in place. If separate adhesive tape is provided, apply it evenly along the mounting surfaces of the spoiler. For optimal adhesion, especially in colder climates, gently warm the adhesive tape with a heat gun or hair dryer on a low setting.
  4. Apply Adhesion Promoter (Optional): If an adhesion promoter is included or recommended, apply a thin, even coat to the marked installation area on the trunk lid. Allow it to dry completely as per the product instructions.
  5. Remove Adhesive Backing: Carefully peel off the red protective backing from the adhesive tape on the spoiler. Avoid touching the adhesive surface with your fingers.
  6. Mount the Spoiler: Align the spoiler with the previously marked positions on the trunk lid. Once aligned, firmly press the spoiler down onto the trunk, applying even pressure across the entire length of the spoiler for several minutes to ensure proper adhesion.
  7. Secure and Cure: Use masking tape to temporarily secure the spoiler in place for at least 24-48 hours. Avoid washing the vehicle or exposing it to heavy rain during this curing period to allow the adhesive to fully bond.

5. Care and Usage

The carbon fiber spoiler is designed to enhance the aesthetic and potentially the aerodynamic profile of your vehicle. To maintain its appearance and integrity:

  • Regular Cleaning: Clean the spoiler regularly with mild automotive soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that can damage the clear coat.
  • Drying: Always dry the spoiler with a soft microfiber towel to prevent water spots and streaks.
  • Waxing/Sealing: Apply a high-quality car wax or sealant periodically to protect the UV-protected clear coating and maintain its glossy finish.
  • Avoid Impact: Be mindful of potential impacts that could damage the carbon fiber material.

6. Maintenance

  • Adhesion Check: Periodically inspect the edges of the spoiler to ensure the adhesive bond remains strong. If any lifting is observed, re-secure immediately to prevent further detachment.
  • Surface Inspection: Regularly check the carbon fiber surface for any signs of damage, suchs as cracks, chips, or fading of the clear coat. Address minor issues promptly to prevent them from worsening.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Spoiler does not adhere properly.Insufficient surface cleaning; low ambient temperature during installation; inadequate pressure applied during bonding; expired or faulty adhesive.Ensure the surface is thoroughly cleaned and dry. Install in temperatures above 60°F (15°C) or use a heat gun to warm the adhesive. Apply firm, even pressure for an extended period. If issues persist, consider replacing the adhesive tape or seeking professional installation.
Poor fitment or gaps after installation.Incorrect alignment during installation; product not designed for specific vehicle sub-model or year.Carefully re-evaluate the alignment before final adhesion. Verify that your vehicle model and year (Mercedes Benz E-Class W207/C207 Coupe 2010-2016) precisely match the product's compatibility. If fitment issues are significant, contact the manufacturer or seller.
Clear coat appears dull or damaged.Exposure to harsh chemicals; prolonged UV exposure without protection; abrasive cleaning.Clean with mild soap and water only. Apply a UV-protective wax or sealant regularly. For significant damage, professional detailing or re-coating may be required.
