Important Safety Instructions
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, injury to persons, or damage to the appliance, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:
- Read all instructions before operating the cooktop.
- Ensure the appliance is connected to a 120 Volt, 60 Hz AC outlet.
- Do not immerse the cooktop, cord, or plug in water or other liquids.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
- Use only induction-compatible cookware. Non-magnetic cookware will not heat.
- The cooking surface will retain residual heat after use. Avoid touching the surface immediately after removing cookware.
- Do not place metal objects such as knives, forks, spoons, lids, or aluminum foil on the cooktop surface as they can become hot.
- Persons with pacemakers or similar medical devices should consult their physician before using an induction cooktop.
- Ensure adequate ventilation around the cooktop during operation.
Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the cooktop from its packaging. Retain packaging for storage or transport.
- Placement: Place the cooktop on a dry, stable, heat-resistant, and non-metallic surface. Ensure there is at least 4 inches (10 cm) of clear space around the unit for proper ventilation. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
- Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet.
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wipe the glass surface with a damp cloth. Ensure the unit is completely dry before plugging it in.
Operating Instructions
Cookware Compatibility
The Salton Induction Cooktop requires cookware with a magnetic base. To test if your cookware is compatible, place a magnet on the bottom of the pot or pan. If the magnet sticks, the cookware is suitable for induction cooking.
Basic Operation
- Power On: Place induction-compatible cookware centrally on the desired cooking zone. Press the Power button (U) to turn on the cooktop.
- Adjusting Power/Temperature: The cooktop features touch controls. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to adjust the power level (P1-P10) or temperature (in Fahrenheit or Celsius). The unit offers 10 power settings for precise control.
- Mode Selection: Press the 'MODE' button to switch between power level and temperature settings.
- Timer Function: Press the Timer button (T) to activate the timer. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to set the desired cooking time, up to 3 hours. The cooktop will automatically shut off once the timer expires, accompanied by an audible signal.
- Pot Detection: The cooktop is equipped with an automatic pot detection system. If no compatible cookware is placed on the cooking zone, or if it is removed during operation, an audible error signal will sound, and the unit will automatically shut off.
- Power Off: Press the Power button (U) to turn off the cooktop. The cooling fan may continue to operate for a short period to dissipate residual heat.

Care and Maintenance
- Cleaning: Disconnect the cooktop from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning. Wipe the glass surface with a damp cloth and mild detergent. For stubborn stains, a non-abrasive cleaner designed for glass cooktops can be used. Do not use abrasive pads, harsh chemicals, or immerse the unit in water.
- Storage: The slim design of the Salton Portable Double Induction Cooktop allows for easy storage. Ensure the unit is clean and dry before storing. It can be stored flat or on its side in a cupboard or pantry.
- Ventilation: Keep the air intake and exhaust vents clear of dust and debris to ensure proper airflow and prevent overheating.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your cooktop, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Cooktop does not turn on: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a working outlet. Check if there is a power outage or a tripped circuit breaker.
- Cookware is not heating: Verify that your cookware is induction-compatible (magnetic base). Ensure the cookware is centered on the cooking zone.
- Error Code 'E1' or 'E2': These codes typically indicate an internal circuit error, overheating, or an open/short circuit. If an E1 or E2 error occurs, turn off the unit, unplug it, and allow it to cool for at least 10 minutes. Ensure the cookware is appropriate and the ventilation is not blocked. If the error persists, contact customer support.
- Audible signal and auto shut-off: This indicates that no compatible cookware is detected on the cooking zone. Place appropriate cookware on the surface to resume operation.
- Controls are unresponsive: Ensure your fingers are dry and clean when operating the touch controls. If the issue persists, unplug the unit for a few minutes and then plug it back in.
