This manual provides instructions for the UpStart Components Universal 3-Device Remote Control, model RC-RCR503BZ-2PK-DL55. 3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
The remote control requires two (2) AAA batteries (not included).
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the remote control.
- Slide the cover downwards to remove it.
- Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals align with the markings inside the compartment.
- Replace the battery compartment cover by sliding it upwards until it clicks into place.

3.2 Device Programming
This universal remote control requires programming to operate your specific devices. Use the provided remote codes to set up your TV, VCR, or satellite/cable box.
3.2.1 Automatic Code Search
- Turn on the device you wish to control (e.g., TV).
- Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button on the remote until the indicator light turns on.
- Press and release the device button you want to program (e.g., TV). The indicator light will blink once and then remain on.
- Point the remote at the device and repeatedly press the POWER button (approximately every 2 seconds) until the device turns off.
- Once the device turns off, press the ENTER button to save the code. The indicator light will turn off.
- Test the remote's functions (e.g., volume, channel). If some functions do not work, repeat the process to find a more compatible code.
3.2.2 Direct Code Entry
If you know the 4-digit code for your device (e.g., JVC TV codes: 0463, 0053, 1253, 1601, 1774, 2264), you can enter it directly.
- Turn on the device you wish to control.
- Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button until the indicator light turns on.
- Press and release the device button you want to program (e.g., TV). The indicator light will blink once and then remain on.
- Enter the 4-digit code using the number buttons on the remote. After entering the fourth digit, the indicator light should turn off.
- Test the remote's functions. If the device does not respond or some functions are missing, try another code from the list for your brand.
4. Operation
Once programmed, the remote control functions similarly to your original device remote. Below is a list of common buttons and their functions:
- POWER: Turns the selected device on or off.
- TV, SAT-CBL-DTC, DVD-VCR: Selects the device to be controlled.
- VOL+ / VOL-: Adjusts the volume.
- CHAN+ / CHAN-: Changes channels.
- MUTE: Mutes the audio.
- MENU: Accesses the device's menu.
- GO BACK: Returns to the previous menu or channel.
- Number Buttons (0-9): Direct channel entry.
- ENTER: Confirms selections.
- SOURCE: Changes input source.
- REW, PLAY, FWD, REC, PAUSE, STOP: Controls playback functions for compatible devices (e.g., DVD, VCR).
- SLEEP: Activates sleep timer function on compatible devices.

5. Troubleshooting
5.1 Remote does not operate the device.
- Ensure fresh AAA batteries are installed correctly.
- Verify the remote is pointed directly at the device and there are no obstructions.
- Re-program the remote using a different code for your device brand.
- Ensure the correct device button (TV, SAT-CBL-DTC, DVD-VCR) is selected.
5.2 Some functions do not work.
- The current code may not be fully compatible. Try programming the remote again using a different code for your device brand.
- Not all functions of your original remote may be supported by a universal remote.
