  1. Base Assembly: The patio umbrella base is NOT included with this product. A suitable heavy-duty base is required for stability. Recommended bases include the PURPLE LEAF DY1100 water tank base, an anchor ground base, or a steel plate base. Ensure the chosen base is adequately weighted to prevent tipping, especially in windy conditions.
  2. Pole Installation: Securely attach the main pole to the assembled base according to the base's specific instructions. Ensure all connections are tightened to prevent wobbling.
  3. Canopy Attachment: Carefully attach the umbrella canopy to the cantilever arm. Follow the specific instructions provided with your umbrella for proper alignment and secure fastening of the ribs to the central hub.

For detailed visual guidance, please refer to the assembly video provided by the manufacturer.

Operating Instructions

Your PURPLE LEAF patio umbrella features a user-friendly crank system and multiple adjustment options for optimal shade control.

  1. Opening the Umbrella: Locate the crank handle on the main pole. Turn the crank clockwise to extend and open the canopy. Continue cranking until the canopy is fully extended and taut.
  2. Adjusting Tilt Angle: The umbrella offers 6 different tilt angles. Use the handle/lever mechanism on the pole to adjust the angle of the canopy. This allows you to block the sun effectively throughout the day as its position changes.
  3. 360-Degree Rotation: The umbrella features a 360-degree rotation capability. This allows you to easily reposition the shade without moving the entire base. Engage the rotation lock (if present) after adjusting to secure the umbrella in place.
  4. Closing the Umbrella: Turn the crank handle counter-clockwise to retract and close the canopy. Once fully closed, secure the canopy with the integrated strap to prevent it from unfurling in windy conditions.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance will extend the life and appearance of your patio umbrella.

  • Canopy Cleaning: The 240/gsm yarn-dyed polyester fabric is UV resistant, water-repellent, and colorfast. Clean the canopy periodically with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before closing or storing. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Frame and Ribs: The all-aluminum umbrella bones and 8 heavy-duty ribs are anti-oxidation spray painted for long-lasting life. Wipe down the frame and ribs with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Inspect for any signs of wear or damage regularly.
  • Storage: During periods of non-use or severe weather, it is recommended to close the umbrella and secure it with the strap. For long-term storage, especially during off-season, consider purchasing a PURPLE LEAF umbrella cover to protect it from the elements. Store in a dry, protected area.

Troubleshooting

  • Umbrella Not Opening/Closing Smoothly: Check for any obstructions in the crank mechanism or along the ribs. Ensure the fabric is not caught. Apply a silicone-based lubricant to moving parts if necessary.
  • Umbrella Instability: Verify that the base is adequately weighted. Ensure all bolts and connections between the pole and base are securely tightened. In strong winds, always close and secure the umbrella.
  • Canopy Sagging: Ensure the canopy is fully extended and the crank mechanism is tightened. Over time, fabric may stretch slightly, but significant sagging could indicate a frame issue.
  • Fading/Discoloration: While the fabric is fade-resistant, prolonged exposure to intense UV rays can eventually cause some color change. Regular cleaning and using a protective cover when not in use can help minimize this.
