5. Setup

Follow these steps to install a blade onto your hot knife:

  1. Loosen Screws: Using the provided hex wrench, loosen the four screws on the knife holder by turning them counter-clockwise. Do not remove them completely.
  2. Insert Blade: Carefully insert the desired blade (arc or straight) into the grooves of the knife holder. Ensure it is seated properly and securely.
  3. Tighten Screws: Tighten the four screws by turning them clockwise with the hex wrench until the blade is firmly held in place. Do not overtighten.

6. Operating Instructions

The ROMECH 120W Hot Knife is designed for cutting various materials that melt, such as foam, fabric, and rope. It heats up quickly, typically within 5-7 seconds.

6.1. Powering On and Heat Adjustment

  1. Plug the hot knife into a suitable power outlet. The indicator light will illuminate.
  2. Rotate the power control knob to select the desired heat setting. There are fifteen graduated settings. Lower settings are suitable for sponge and polyester foam, while higher settings are for rubber and KT board.
  3. Allow the blade to heat for a few seconds until it reaches the desired temperature.

When cutting, the heated blade melts and fuses the material, creating smooth edges with minimal debris. For fabric and rope, it heat-seals the edges to prevent fraying.
