Safety Information
Always read and follow all instructions carefully before installing, operating, or maintaining this product. Failure to do so can result in serious injury or property damage. Ensure the pump is connected to a grounded outlet and never operate the pump when people are in the pool. Disconnect power before performing any maintenance.
Setup & Installation
1. Preparation
- Choose a level, stable location for the filter pump, preferably on a solid base.
- Ensure the location is close enough to the pool for hose connections and a grounded electrical outlet.
2. Assembling the Filter Pump
- Carefully unpack all components and ensure nothing is missing or damaged.
- Place the filter tank onto its designated base.
- Add the appropriate amount of filter sand (sold separately) into the tank. Ensure the center pipe is protected from sand entering it during this process.
- Install the multi-port valve on top of the filter tank, ensuring a secure and watertight seal.

3. Connecting to the Pool
- Connect the pump's inlet hose to the pool's outlet valve (where water leaves the pool).
- Connect the pump's outlet hose to the pool's inlet valve (where filtered water returns to the pool).
- Ensure all hose connections are tightened securely to prevent leaks.

Operating the Filter Pump
Multi-Port Valve Functions
- Filter: Normal filtering mode.
- Backwash: Cleans the sand bed by reversing water flow.
- Rinse: Used after backwash to settle the sand bed.
- Waste: Drains water directly from the pool, bypassing the filter.
- Recirculate: Circulates water without filtering (e.g., for chemical distribution).
- Closed: Shuts off all flow to the filter and pump.
Initial Startup (Backwash & Rinse)
Before first use, or after adding new sand, the filter must be backwashed and rinsed to remove fine particles from the sand.
- Ensure the pump is OFF.
- Set the multi-port valve to the "Backwash" position.
- Turn the pump ON. Allow water to run for 30-60 seconds, or until the water flowing out is clear.
- Turn the pump OFF.
- Set the multi-port valve to the "Rinse" position.
- Turn the pump ON. Allow water to run for 30-60 seconds, or until the water flowing out is clear.
- Turn the pump OFF.
- Proceed to normal filtering.
Normal Filtering
- Ensure the pump is OFF.
- Set the multi-port valve to the "Filter" position.
- Turn the pump ON. The pump will now filter your pool water.
- Monitor the pressure gauge. If the pressure rises significantly above the initial reading, it indicates the filter needs backwashing.
Maintenance
Regular Cleaning
- The pre-filter strainer basket should be checked and cleaned regularly to prevent debris from entering the pump impeller.
- Perform backwash and rinse cycles as described in the Operating section whenever the pressure gauge indicates reduced flow or increased pressure.
Sand Replacement
Filter sand typically needs to be replaced every 3-5 years, depending on usage and water quality. Refer to the initial setup instructions for the sand replacement process.
Winterization
Before storing the pump for winter, ensure all water is drained from the filter tank and pump. Disconnect all hoses and store the unit in a dry, protected area to prevent damage from freezing temperatures.
Troubleshooting
- Low Flow/Poor Filtration: Check if the pre-filter strainer basket is clogged. Perform a backwash and rinse cycle. Ensure the sand level is correct.
- Sand in Pool: This can occur if the sand bed is not properly rinsed after backwashing, or if there are issues with the filter's internal components or tank integrity. Ensure proper backwash/rinse procedures are followed.
- Pump Not Starting: Verify the power connection and ensure the outlet is functioning. Check for any obstructions in the pump impeller.
- Leaks: Inspect all hose connections for tightness. Check O-rings for proper seating and damage. Examine the filter tank and multi-port valve for any cracks or damage.
