1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Citizen CC3038-51E Satellite Wave GPS Eco-Drive Watch. This timepiece combines advanced GPS satellite timekeeping with Citizen's innovative Eco-Drive technology, ensuring precise timekeeping without the need for battery replacement. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your watch.

2. Key Features

  • Satellite Wave GPS Time Keeping Technology: Worldwide reception and time adjustments in 40 time zones.
  • Eco-Drive Technology: Powered by any light source, eliminating the need for battery changes.
  • Perpetual Calendar: Automatically adjusts for month length and leap years.
  • Daylight Saving Time Indicator: For easy adjustment.
  • World Time Function: Displays time in various global cities.
  • Water Resistance: Up to 100 meters (10 ATM).
  • Glow In The Dark: Luminous hands and markers for visibility in low light.

3. Setup

3.1 Initial Charging (Eco-Drive)

Before initial use, ensure your watch is fully charged. Expose the watch dial to a bright light source (natural sunlight is ideal) for several hours. The watch will begin operating once it receives sufficient light. Avoid prolonged storage in darkness to prevent the power reserve from depleting.

3.2 Time Synchronization (Satellite Wave GPS)

Your watch automatically receives time signals from GPS satellites to maintain accurate time. For optimal reception, ensure the watch has a clear, unobstructed view of the sky. Avoid areas with tall buildings, dense foliage, or strong electromagnetic interference.

3.4 Perpetual Calendar and Daylight Saving Time

The perpetual calendar function automatically adjusts the date. For Daylight Saving Time (DST), the watch can be set to automatically adjust or manually toggled on/off. Consult the full manual for precise instructions on DST settings.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Reading the Dial

The main hands indicate the current hour, minute, and second. The watch features sub-dials and indicators for various functions, including day of the week, power reserve, and reception status. The date is displayed in a window on the dial.

4.2 Using World Time

To utilize the world time function, rotate the crown or use the designated push-buttons (refer to your full manual) to select the desired city code displayed around the bezel. The watch will then display the time for that specific time zone.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Charging Your Eco-Drive Watch

Regular exposure to light is crucial for maintaining the watch's power reserve. When not in use, store the watch in a location where it can receive light, such as near a window, rather than in a dark drawer. A fully charged watch can operate for several months in total darkness.

5.2 Cleaning

Wipe the watch case and bracelet regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove dirt and perspiration. For water-resistant models, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by drying. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

5.3 Water Resistance

This watch is water-resistant to 100 meters (10 ATM), suitable for swimming and snorkeling. Do not operate the crown or push-buttons while the watch is wet or submerged to prevent water intrusion. Ensure the crown is pushed in completely after any adjustments.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Time Inaccuracy or No Signal Reception

  • Ensure the watch has a clear view of the sky for GPS signal reception.
  • Check the power reserve indicator to ensure the watch is sufficiently charged.
  • Perform a manual GPS time synchronization if automatic reception is consistently failing.

6.2 Watch Not Running

  • Expose the watch to a strong light source for an extended period to ensure it is fully charged.
  • If the watch remains unresponsive after adequate charging, contact Citizen customer support.
