1. Introduction and Safety Information
Thank you for choosing the DURO Pro DB12-L Li-Ion Cordless Drill. This manual provides important information for the safe operation, maintenance, and care of your tool. Please read it thoroughly before first use and keep it for future reference.
General Power Tool Safety Warnings
- Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
- Electrical Safety: Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
- Personal Safety: Always wear eye protection. Use personal protective equipment such as dust masks, non-skid safety shoes, hard hats, or hearing protection when appropriate. Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a power tool.
- Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.
- Battery Tool Use and Care: Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack. Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs.

3. Setup
3.1 Charging the Battery
- Ensure the battery pack is securely inserted into the charger.
- Plug the charger into a suitable power outlet.
- Allow the battery to charge fully before first use. Refer to the charger's indicator lights for charging status.
- Unplug the charger once charging is complete and remove the battery.
3.2 Installing/Removing the Battery Pack
- Installation: Align the battery pack with the slot in the drill handle and slide it in until it clicks securely into place.
- Removal: Press the battery release button (if present) and slide the battery pack out of the handle.
3.3 Installing Drill Bits or Screwdriver Bits
- Rotate the chuck counter-clockwise to open the jaws.
- Insert the desired drill bit or screwdriver bit into the chuck. Ensure the bit is inserted as far as possible.
- Rotate the chuck clockwise to tighten the jaws firmly around the bit. Hand-tighten only; do not use tools to tighten the chuck.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Forward/Reverse Rotation
The forward/reverse switch is located above the trigger. Push it to the left for forward rotation (drilling/screwing in) and to the right for reverse rotation (unscrewing). Ensure the switch is in the center position to lock the trigger and prevent accidental starting.
4.2 Speed Selection (2-Speed Gearbox)
The drill features a 2-speed gearbox. The speed selector switch is typically located on top of the drill housing.
- Position 1 (Low Speed): For high torque applications such as driving large screws or drilling large holes.
- Position 2 (High Speed): For faster drilling in softer materials or smaller holes.
Always change speed settings when the drill is stopped to prevent gear damage.
4.3 Torque Setting
The torque collar, located behind the chuck, allows you to pre-select the desired torque level. This prevents over-tightening screws and damaging the workpiece or screw head. Rotate the collar to align the desired number with the indicator mark. Higher numbers indicate higher torque. The drill also has a drill symbol setting for maximum torque when drilling.
4.4 Operating the Drill
- Select the appropriate speed and torque setting for your task.
- Ensure the forward/reverse switch is in the correct position.
- Position the drill bit or screwdriver bit on the workpiece.
- Press the trigger to start the drill. The speed is variable depending on how far you press the trigger.
- Apply steady, even pressure. Do not force the tool.
- Release the trigger to stop the drill.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
- Always disconnect the battery pack before cleaning.
- Keep the ventilation openings of the tool clean to prevent overheating.
- Wipe the tool housing with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Clean the chuck jaws regularly to ensure proper grip on bits.
5.2 Storage
- Store the drill and battery pack in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
- Ensure the battery is partially charged (around 50%) before long-term storage to prolong its lifespan.
- Keep out of reach of children.
