2. Guide Bar and Chain Assembly
Refer to the detailed instructions in your product packaging for specific steps on assembling the guide bar and chain. Ensure the chain is correctly oriented and seated in the guide bar groove.
3. Chain Tensioning
Proper chain tension is crucial for safe and efficient operation. The XCU07PT features a lateral chain tensioning system.
- Loosen the bar nuts (if applicable, for models with screw-style tensioners).
- Turn the tensioning screw (or knob for tool-less models) to adjust the chain tension. The chain should be snug against the guide bar but still able to be pulled freely by hand.
- Tighten the bar nuts securely once the desired tension is achieved.

4. Filling Chain Oil
The chain saw requires bar and chain oil for lubrication. Use high-quality bar and chain oil.
- Place the chain saw on a level surface.
- Unscrew the oil tank cap.
- Carefully fill the oil tank with bar and chain oil, avoiding overfilling.
- Securely replace the oil tank cap.

2. Cutting Techniques
Always maintain a firm grip with both hands. Plan your cuts to avoid kickback. For felling trees, ensure proper wedges and escape routes are prepared. For limbing, work from the bottom up, supporting the branch if necessary. Avoid cutting into the ground.
3. Variable Speed Trigger
The chain saw features a variable speed trigger, allowing you to control the chain speed based on the cutting task. Apply more pressure for higher speed and less for slower, more controlled cuts.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your chain saw. Always remove batteries before performing maintenance.
- Cleaning: After each use, clean sawdust and debris from the chain saw, especially around the guide bar, chain, and motor housing.
- Chain Sharpening: A sharp chain is essential for efficient cutting and safety. Sharpen the chain regularly or replace it when dull. Refer to a qualified service center if unsure.
- Chain Tension: Check chain tension frequently, especially during initial use and after prolonged cutting. Adjust as needed.
- Oil Level: Monitor the chain oil level and refill as necessary.
- Bar Maintenance: Periodically flip the guide bar to ensure even wear. Clean the guide bar groove.
