1. Introduction

The FlashQ Q20II is a versatile and compact wireless flash unit designed for photographers seeking a portable and powerful lighting solution. Please verify that all items are present in your FlashQ Q20II package:

Note: AA batteries are not included and must be purchased separately. Rechargeable Ni-MH batteries are recommended for the Q20II main body. The T2 Transmitter has a built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery.

3. Setup

3.1. Battery Installation (Main Unit)

The FlashQ Q20II main unit requires two AA-size batteries. For optimal performance and to utilize the USB charging feature, use rechargeable Ni-MH batteries.

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the side of the FlashQ Q20II main unit.
  2. Slide the cover open.
  3. Insert two AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.2. Charging the Transmitter and Main Unit

The T2 Transmitter has a built-in Li-ion battery and is rechargeable. The main unit can also be charged via USB if rechargeable Ni-MH batteries are installed.

  1. Connect the included USB charging cable to the charging port on the FlashQ Q20II main unit.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to a standard USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter).
  3. The charging indicator light will illuminate during charging. It will change or turn off when charging is complete.
  4. To charge the T2 Transmitter separately, detach it from the main unit and connect the USB cable directly to its charging port.

3.3. Attaching to Camera Hot Shoe

The FlashQ Q20II can be mounted directly onto your camera's standard ISO hot shoe.

  1. Ensure the flash unit is turned off.
  2. Slide the hot shoe foot of the FlashQ Q20II into your camera's hot shoe slot.
  3. Secure the flash by tightening the locking wheel or lever on the hot shoe foot, if present.

Compatibility: Compatible with most cameras with standard ISO hot shoe, including Sony Multi Interface Shoe (MIS).

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Power On/Off

To power on the FlashQ Q20II, slide the ON/OFF switch located on the side of the unit to the "ON" position. To power off, slide the switch to "OFF".

4.2. Flash Modes and Power Adjustment

The FlashQ Q20II operates in manual flash mode. You can adjust the flash output power from 1/64 to 1/1.

  1. Press the FLASH button to activate flash mode.
  2. Use the Left/Right arrow buttons to adjust the flash power ratio. The current power level is indicated by LEDs.
  3. The unit will automatically recycle after each flash. The "CHG" indicator light will show when the flash is ready to fire.

4.3. LED Video Light Operation

The FlashQ Q20II includes a built-in LED video light with adjustable brightness.

  1. Press the VIDEO LIGHT button to turn on the LED light.
  2. Use the Up/Down arrow buttons to adjust the brightness level (7 steps).
  3. Press the VIDEO LIGHT button again to turn off the LED light.

4.4. Optical Slave Modes (S1/S2)

The FlashQ Q20II can be triggered by another flash using its optical slave modes.

To select an optical slave mode, press the MODE button until the desired S1 or S2 indicator light is illuminated. "NORMAL" indicates the flash is ready for hot shoe or wireless trigger operation.

4.5. Wireless Operation with Detachable Transmitter

The FlashQ Q20II features a detachable T2 Transmitter for off-camera wireless flash control.

  1. To detach the transmitter, press the PUSH RELEASE button and slide the transmitter off the main unit.
  2. Mount the T2 Transmitter onto your camera's hot shoe.
  3. Ensure both the main unit and the transmitter are powered on. They will automatically pair.
  4. You can now trigger the FlashQ Q20II wirelessly and adjust its power settings from the transmitter.

4.6. Using Color Gels

The FlashQ Q20II includes a color gel pack to modify the flash's color temperature or add creative effects.

  1. Locate the built-in gel holder on the flash head.
  2. Carefully slide the desired color gel into the holder.
  3. Ensure the gel is securely seated before use.
