1. Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

• Read all instructions before operating the toaster.

• Do not attempt to dislodge food when toaster is plugged in.
• Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to 'off', then remove plug from wall outlet.

• Browning Control Dial: Adjusts the toast shade from 1 (lightest) to 6 (darkest).

3. Setup

1. Unpack: Remove all packaging materials and any promotional labels from the toaster.
2. Clean: Wipe the exterior of the toaster with a damp cloth. Ensure the crumb tray is clean and properly inserted.
3. First Use: Before toasting bread for consumption, operate the toaster for one cycle at the highest browning setting without any bread. This will burn off any manufacturing residues and eliminate odors. A slight smoke or odor is normal during this initial use.
4. Placement: Place the toaster on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from flammable materials.

4. Operating Instructions

Basic Toasting

1. Insert Bread: Place up to two slices of bread, bagels, or other items into the toasting slots.
2. Select Browning: Turn the browning control dial to your desired shade setting (1 for lightest, 6 for darkest).
3. Start Toasting: Press the control lever down until it locks into place. The toasting cycle will begin.
4. Automatic Pop-up: Once the selected browning cycle is complete, the toast will automatically pop up.

Special Functions

• Cancel: To stop the toasting cycle at any time, press the 'CANCEL' button. The bread will immediately pop up.
• Defrost: For frozen bread, insert the bread, select your desired browning level, press the control lever down, then press the 'DEFROST' button. The indicator light will illuminate, and the toaster will automatically adjust the toasting time for frozen items.
• Bagel: For bagels, insert the bagel halves with the cut side facing inwards, select your desired browning level, press the control lever down, then press the 'BAGEL' button. The indicator light will illuminate, and the toaster will toast only the cut side of the bagel.

5. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your toaster.

1. Unplug and Cool: Always unplug the toaster from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
2. Empty Crumb Tray: Pull out the removable crumb tray from the bottom of the toaster. Discard crumbs and wipe the tray clean with a damp cloth. Dry thoroughly before reinserting.
3. Clean Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the toaster with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal scouring pads, as these can scratch the stainless steel finish.
4. Internal Cleaning: Never insert metal objects or fingers into the toasting slots. If food becomes lodged, unplug the toaster and carefully remove the food after it has cooled.
5. Storage: Store the toaster in a dry place. Utilize the cord storage feature on the base to keep the countertop tidy.

6. Troubleshooting

• Toaster Not Working: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a functional outlet. Check if the circuit breaker has tripped.
• Bread Not Toasting Evenly: This can sometimes occur if only one slice of bread is toasted in a two-slice toaster. Ensure bread slices are centered in the slots. Different bread types and moisture levels can also affect evenness.
• Bread Stuck in Toaster: Unplug the toaster immediately. Allow it to cool completely. Carefully remove the bread using non-metallic tongs. Never use metal utensils.
