4. Setup and Blade Replacement
The OLFA SK-14 comes preloaded with an SKB-2S-R Rounded-Tip Safety Blade. When the blade becomes dull, it must be replaced with a compatible OLFA blade (SKB-2, SKB-2S, RSKB, or HOB Safety Blades).
4.1. Removing the Old Blade

- Insert the new blade into the blade carrier, ensuring it is correctly seated and aligned.
- Slide the blade carrier back into the knife handle until it clicks securely into place.
- Test the self-retracting mechanism by extending the blade and releasing pressure. The blade should retract smoothly.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Extending the Blade
To extend the blade, firmly push the blade slider forward with your thumb. The blade will extend as long as continuous pressure is applied to the slider.
5.2. Making a Cut
- Place the material to be cut on a stable, cut-resistant surface.
- Extend the blade by pushing the slider forward.
- Apply firm, consistent downward pressure to the knife while guiding it along the desired cutting line. The blade will remain extended as long as it is in contact with the cutting surface and pressure is applied.
- Once the cut is complete or pressure is released, the blade will automatically retract into the handle.

5.3. Self-Retracting Mechanism
