3. Safety Information

  • Always turn off the main water supply before beginning any installation or maintenance.
  • Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks. Hand-tighten fittings, then use a wrench for a quarter turn if necessary, but do not overtighten.
  • Check for leaks immediately after installation and periodically thereafter.
  • Do not use this kit with water temperatures exceeding 100°F (38°C) or pressures above 100 PSI.
  • Keep tubing away from sharp objects or heat sources that could damage it.

4. Setup & Installation

This kit is designed for easy installation with your existing water filtration system (e.g., Reverse Osmosis system) and refrigerator's ice maker or water dispenser. No special tools are required for quick-connect fittings.

  1. Prepare Water Supply: Turn off the main water supply to your home or the specific cold water line that feeds your water filtration system. Relieve any pressure by opening a nearby faucet.
  2. Connect Union Tee: Locate the purified water output line from your water filtration system. Cut this line cleanly where you intend to divert water. Insert the ends of the cut line into the two opposing ports of the Hydrofit 1/4" Union Tee Fitting. Ensure the tubing is fully inserted into the quick-connect fittings.
  3. Install Inline Ball Valve: Connect one end of the Hydrofit 1/4" Inline Ball Valve to the third port of the Union Tee Fitting. This valve allows you to shut off water flow to your refrigerator without affecting the main filtration system.
  4. Route Tubing: Connect one end of the 25-foot Hydrofit 1/4" Food Grade Tubing to the open end of the Inline Ball Valve. Carefully route the tubing from your water filtration system to the back of your refrigerator. Ensure the tubing is not kinked, pinched, or exposed to excessive heat.
  5. Connect to Refrigerator: At the refrigerator end, connect the tubing to the Hydrofit 1/4" Faucet Adapter. This adapter typically connects to the existing water inlet on your refrigerator. Use the compression fitting nut, plastic insert, and sleeve if your refrigerator connection requires it.
  6. Secure Connections: For added security, place the blue Quick Connect Locking Clips around the collars of all quick-connect fittings. This prevents accidental disconnection.
  7. Restore Water Supply & Check for Leaks: Slowly turn the main water supply back on. Open the Inline Ball Valve. Carefully inspect all connections for any signs of leaks. Tighten connections slightly if necessary.
  8. Flush System: Dispense several glasses of water from your refrigerator's dispenser and discard the first few batches of ice to flush any air or carbon fines from the new line.

5. Operation

The Aquasure Ice Maker Water Line Kit operates automatically once installed, providing filtered water to your refrigerator's ice maker and water dispenser. The primary operational component is the inline ball valve.

  • Inline Ball Valve: This valve allows you to control the water flow to your refrigerator.
    • To allow water flow: Ensure the handle is aligned with the direction of the tubing.
    • To stop water flow: Turn the handle perpendicular to the tubing. This is useful for maintenance on your refrigerator or if you need to isolate the water supply to the ice maker.

6. Maintenance

Regular inspection of your water line kit can help ensure its longevity and prevent potential issues.

  • Leak Checks: Periodically inspect all connections for any signs of leaks or drips. Address any leaks immediately by ensuring fittings are properly seated and locking clips are in place.
  • Tubing Inspection: Check the tubing for any visible signs of wear, kinks, cracks, or damage. If damage is observed, replace the affected section of tubing.
  • Fitting Integrity: Ensure all quick-connect fittings and locking clips are securely in place.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Water leak at a connection pointTubing not fully inserted, missing locking clip, damaged O-ring in fitting, overtightened compression nut.Turn off water supply. Ensure tubing is fully inserted into quick-connect fittings. Install locking clips. Inspect O-rings for damage and replace if necessary. For compression fittings, ensure it's snug but not overtightened.
