Before you begin, ensure your door is prepared with the correct bore holes and backset. A standard screwdriver is the only tool required for installation.
Step 1: Install the Latch Bolt
- Determine the required backset (60mm or 70mm). Adjust the latch bolt if necessary by twisting the faceplate.
- Insert the latch bolt into the edge bore hole of the door. Ensure the bevel of the latch faces the door frame.
- Secure the latch bolt with the provided screws.

Step 2: Install the Exterior Lever Assembly
- Insert the exterior lever assembly (the side with the keyhole) through the door bore hole, ensuring the spindle passes through the latch bolt.
Step 3: Install the Interior Lever Assembly
- Align the interior lever assembly with the exterior assembly, ensuring the mounting posts and spindle engage correctly.
- Secure both assemblies together using the long mounting screws provided. Tighten firmly but do not overtighten.
Step 4: Install the Strike Plate
- Align the strike plate with the latch bolt on the door frame.
- Mark and pre-drill pilot holes if necessary.
- Secure the strike plate with the provided screws.
Reversing the Lever Handing
The Probrico door levers are reversible. If the lever is oriented incorrectly for your door's handing (left or right open), follow these steps:
- Locate the small set screw on the side of the lever handle, near the rosette.
- Using a small screwdriver or the provided tool (if applicable), loosen and remove this set screw.
- Carefully pull the lever handle off the spindle.
- Rotate the lever handle 180 degrees to reverse its orientation.
- Reinsert the lever handle onto the spindle and secure it by tightening the set screw.
- Repeat for the other side if necessary.

Care and Maintenance
- Cleaning: Clean the lever handles with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of graphite lubricant to the key cylinder to ensure smooth operation. Do not use oil-based lubricants, as they can attract dirt and dust.
- Inspection: Regularly check all screws and connections to ensure they remain tight. Tighten any loose screws to maintain optimal performance and security.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Lever does not turn or is stiff. | Misaligned components, dirt in mechanism, or overtightened screws. | Loosen mounting screws slightly. Check for obstructions. Apply graphite lubricant to the key cylinder. Re-install if necessary, ensuring proper alignment. |
| Key does not turn smoothly or gets stuck. | Dirt or debris in the key cylinder, worn key, or internal mechanism issue. | Apply graphite lubricant into the keyhole. Try a different key if available. If the problem persists, the cylinder may need replacement. |
| Latch bolt does not retract fully. | Latch bolt is not properly aligned with the strike plate or internal mechanism issue. | Check alignment of the latch bolt and strike plate. Ensure mounting screws are not overtightened. Verify the latch bolt is fully inserted into the door edge. |
| Difficulty reversing the lever handing. | Set screw not fully loosened or removed, or incorrect procedure. | Ensure the small set screw on the side of the lever handle is completely loosened or removed before attempting to pull the handle off. Refer to the "Reversing the Lever Handing" section in the installation instructions. |
