1. Introduction and Overview

3. Setup

3.1 Powering the Device

  1. Connect the provided USB cable to the scanner's USB port.
  2. Attach the appropriate international plug to the 3-in-1 power adapter.
  3. Connect the USB cable to the power adapter.
  4. Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet.
  5. Press the power button on the scanner to turn it on.

3.2 Inserting an SD Card (Optional)

The scanner has internal memory, but an SD card (up to 32GB, not included) is recommended for storing a large number of scanned images.

  1. Locate the SD card slot on the side of the scanner.
  2. Insert the SD card with the metal contacts facing down until it clicks into place.
  3. To remove, gently push the SD card until it ejects.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Understanding the Controls

The scanner features an intuitive button layout for easy navigation and operation.

  • Power Button: Turns the scanner on/off.

4.2 Loading Film and Slides

The scanner supports various film and slide types using dedicated adapters.

  1. Select the appropriate adapter for your film or slide type (35mm, 126, 110, Super 8, 8mm).
  2. Open the adapter and carefully place your film strip or slide into the designated slot. Ensure it is aligned correctly.
  3. Close the adapter securely.
  4. Insert the loaded adapter into the scanner's side slot.

4.3 Scanning and Saving Images

  1. Once the film/slide is loaded, the image will appear on the 2.4-inch LCD screen.
  2. Use the navigation buttons to adjust the image position if needed.
  3. Press the Scan/Capture button to digitize the image. The scanner will save it to the internal memory or the inserted SD card.

4.4 Image Editing Functions

The scanner allows for basic image adjustments directly on the device.

The scanner's LCD screen displays image editing options including Brightness, Red, Green, and Blue color adjustments, with sliders to modify values.

  • Brightness: Adjust the overall lightness or darkness of the image.
  • Color (Red, Green, Blue): Fine-tune individual color channels for accurate reproduction.
  • Flip/Reverse: Correct image orientation if the film was loaded incorrectly.

4.5 Connecting to a Computer or TV

You can view your scanned images on a larger screen or transfer them to a computer.

  • USB Connection: Connect the scanner to your computer using the USB cable. The scanner will appear as a removable drive, allowing you to transfer JPEG files.
  • TV Out: Use the provided TV Out cable to connect the scanner to a television for viewing images on a larger display.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Scanner

Regular cleaning ensures clear scans and extends the life of your device.

  1. Turn off and unplug the scanner before cleaning.
  2. Use the provided cleaning brush to gently remove dust and debris from the film and slide slots.
  3. For the exterior, wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid liquid cleaners.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your KODAK Mini Digital Film & Slide Scanner, try the following:

  • No Power: Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the scanner and a working electrical outlet.
  • Image Unclear/Dusty: Clean the film/slide slots with the provided brush. Ensure film/slides are free of dust before scanning.
  • Cannot Save Images: Check if an SD card is properly inserted and has sufficient free space. If using internal memory, ensure it is not full.
  • Incorrect Image Orientation: Use the Flip/Reverse buttons on the scanner to correct the image orientation.
  • Device Not Recognized by Computer: Ensure the USB cable is securely connected. Try a different USB port or restart your computer.
