Using the Device
Film Type and Frame Size
Standard 8mm film has a frame size of 4.5 x 3.3 mm. Super 8 film has a frame size of 5.79 x 4.01 mm. Ensure the film type switch is set correctly.
Note: If your image appears upside down, you are at the end of the film and need to rewind onto another reel.
Operation Instructions
- Connect the power adapter to the scanner and plug it into a power outlet.
- Insert an SD card (not included) into the SD card slot, ensuring it is facing upwards.
- Press the power button to turn on the scanner. The main menu will appear. A white LED indicates the scanner is powered on.
Note: The scanner automatically turns off after 15 minutes of inactivity. The scanner may freeze if parts of the film are distorted. Ensure the film is in good condition. The scanner cannot process damaged, overlapping, torn, misaligned, or twisted film. Use adhesive tape to repair torn film sections, applying it carefully and sparingly. Excessive tape may cause the film to jam.
Menu Functions
Power On/Off
Press the power button to start the machine. Press the power button again to turn it off.
Note: The power indicator light next to the power button illuminates when the scanner is on. The screen may take a few seconds to activate. The scanner does not record sound.
Main Menu: Capture
Select “Capture” from the main menu and press OK/Enter to enter the “Video Preview” mode. In this mode, you will see options for Recording, Image Adjustment, and Image.

- Press OK/Enter to enter the prompt to switch between Super 8 and 8mm film.
- Use the film type switch to select the film type, then press OK/Enter to record.
The device captures each frame and combines it into a digital video. The film is scanned frame by frame and transferred to the inserted SD card. If the film is damaged or jammed, lift the film cover and push the damaged area past the illuminated scanning zone. Ensure the film is properly in place and close the cover. Pressing OK/Enter during recording will stop it and automatically save the MP4 file. Files stopped 15 seconds after recording begins will not be saved.

- Use the directional arrow buttons to adjust margins and the Plus or Minus buttons to zoom in or out.

IMPORTANT: Invert the left and right reels before rewinding. The machine only works from left to right, so reels must be swapped for the rewinding process.
Note: Use the dotted line to thread the negative for rewinding. Lift the film from the film slot so the gray pin does not slow the film.
Fast Forward Function
- Select “Fast Forward” from the menu using the Up or Down buttons. Press OK/Enter to access.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed.
Note: Fast Forward and Rewind are used to rewind your reel. The difference is that for rewinding, reels must be inverted for the film to be scanned correctly. Fast Forward is used to decide where to start recording and to speed through parts of your film. Use the dotted line to thread the negative for fast forward. Lift the film from the film slot so the gray pin does not slow the film.
