3. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance of your rear camera. It is recommended to have this installed by a professional if you are not familiar with vehicle wiring.

3.1 Before Installation

  • Ensure your CHORTAU dash camera (B-T002, B-T006, or B-T008) is already installed and functioning correctly.
  • Turn off your vehicle's engine and disconnect the power from the dash camera.
  • Gather necessary tools: screwdriver, wire cutters/strippers, electrical tape, cable ties.

3.2 Mounting the Rear Camera

  1. Choose a Location: Select a central location at the rear of your vehicle, typically above the license plate or on the rear bumper, ensuring a clear, unobstructed view.
  2. Secure the Camera: Use the provided screws or adhesive pad to firmly attach the camera to the chosen location. Ensure the camera is oriented correctly (usually with the lens facing outwards and slightly downwards).

3.3 Wiring Connection

The rear camera typically connects to the dash camera via a video cable. Some models may also require a power connection to the vehicle's reverse light circuit for automatic display when reversing.

  1. Connect Video Cable: Route the long video cable from the rear camera to the location of your dash camera. Carefully tuck the cable along the vehicle's headliner, A-pillars, or under the floor mats to conceal it and prevent interference.
  2. Connect to Dash Camera: Plug the video cable's connector (often a 3.5mm jack or RCA connector, depending on your dash cam model) into the designated "AV-IN" or "Rear Camera" port on your CHORTAU dash camera.
  3. Reverse Light Trigger (Optional but Recommended): If your dash camera supports it and you desire automatic display when reversing, locate the red wire extending from the video cable near the rear camera. Connect this red wire to the positive (+) wire of your vehicle's reverse light. This connection triggers the dash cam to display the rear camera feed when the vehicle is put into reverse gear.
  4. Secure Wiring: Use cable ties to secure any loose wiring, ensuring it does not interfere with vehicle operation or safety features.

Note: Some CHORTAU dash cam models may use a 3.5mm jack for the rear camera input, while others might use an RCA connector. Please verify the correct connector type for your specific dash cam model before attempting connection.

4. Operating Instructions

Once the rear camera is correctly installed and connected to your CHORTAU dash camera, its operation is largely integrated with the dash cam's functions.

4.1 Automatic Display (with Reverse Trigger)

  • When your vehicle is put into reverse gear, the dash camera screen will automatically switch to display the live feed from the rear camera.
  • Parking guidelines (if supported by your dash cam) may appear on the screen to assist with parking.
  • When you shift out of reverse, the dash camera will return to its normal recording mode (front camera view or dual view).

4.2 Manual Display

  • Refer to your specific CHORTAU dash camera's manual for instructions on how to manually switch to the rear camera view. This is typically done through the dash cam's menu settings or a dedicated button.

4.3 Recording

  • The rear camera feed is typically recorded simultaneously with the front camera feed by your CHORTAU dash camera. These recordings are usually stored as separate files or as a combined picture-in-picture view, depending on your dash cam model.
  • Ensure your dash camera's recording settings are configured to record both front and rear channels if desired.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and clear operation of your rear camera.

  • Lens Cleaning: Periodically clean the camera lens with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or materials that could scratch the lens.
  • Housing Cleaning: Wipe the camera housing with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and dirt.
  • Cable Inspection: Occasionally check the video cable and connections for any signs of wear, damage, or loose connections.
  • Avoid High-Pressure Washing: When washing your vehicle, avoid directing high-pressure water jets directly at the camera, as this could damage the seals.
