2. Safety Information

Please read and understand all safety precautions before operating this product. Failure to do so may result in injury or damage to the product or property.

  • Battery Safety: Use only the specified 4 * AA batteries for the transmitter. Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries. Ensure correct polarity when installing. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period.
  • Operating Environment: Operate your RC model in open areas, away from people, vehicles, and obstacles. Avoid operating near power lines, radio towers, or other sources of electromagnetic interference.
  • Pre-Flight Checks: Always perform a thorough pre-flight check of your RC model and radio system before each use. Ensure all controls respond correctly and that the battery levels are sufficient.
  • Water and Moisture: Keep the transmitter and receiver away from water and moisture. Exposure to water can damage the electronic components.
  • Children: This product is not a toy. Adult supervision is required for users under 15 years of age.

4. Setup

4.1. Transmitter Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the FS-i4 transmitter.
  2. Press the release tab and slide open the battery cover.
  3. Insert four (4) AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Replace the battery cover until it clicks securely into place.

4.2. Receiver Connection

Connect the FS-A6 receiver to your RC model's electronic speed controller (ESC) and servos according to your model's specific wiring diagram. Refer to Image 3.3 for a general connection overview.

  • Connect the ESC (providing power and throttle signal) to the 'THR' (Throttle) channel on the receiver.
  • Connect servos for Aileron, Elevator, and Rudder to their respective channels (AIL, ELE, RUD).
  • Ensure all connections are secure and correctly oriented.

4.3. Binding Procedure

Binding is the process of linking the transmitter and receiver so they can communicate. This procedure is typically done once per transmitter-receiver pair.

  1. Ensure the transmitter is OFF.
  2. Connect the bind plug (included with the receiver) to the 'BIND' port on the FS-A6 receiver.
  3. Power on the receiver (e.g., by connecting the ESC to the battery). The receiver's LED should flash rapidly.
  4. While holding down the 'BIND KEY' button on the FS-i4 transmitter, turn on the transmitter.
  5. Release the 'BIND KEY' button after the transmitter powers on. The receiver's LED should now be solid, indicating successful binding.
  6. Turn off both the transmitter and receiver.
  7. Remove the bind plug from the receiver.
  8. Power on the transmitter first, then the receiver. The receiver's LED should be solid, confirming the link.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Basic Controls

The FS-i4 transmitter features two primary control sticks (gimbals) and various switches for controlling your RC model.

  • Left Gimbal: Typically controls throttle (vertical movement) and rudder (horizontal movement).
  • Right Gimbal: Typically controls elevator (vertical movement) and aileron (horizontal movement).
  • Trims: Small sliders or buttons near each gimbal used for fine-tuning the neutral position of the control surfaces. Adjust trims to ensure the model flies straight and level without stick input.
  • Reverse Switches: Located on the front panel, these switches (V-MIX, RUD, THR, ELE, AIL) allow you to reverse the direction of a specific channel's output if a control surface moves in the opposite direction desired.

5.2. Powering On/Off

  1. To Power On: Always turn on the transmitter first. Ensure the throttle stick is at its lowest position.
  2. To Power Off: Always turn off the receiver/model first, then turn off the transmitter. This prevents accidental runaway of the model.

6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance will ensure the longevity and reliable operation of your radio system.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the transmitter and receiver. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: Store the radio system in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove batteries from the transmitter if storing for extended periods.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect all cables, connectors, and the antenna for any signs of wear or damage. Replace damaged components immediately.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Receiver LED not solid after powering on.Not bound, or lost binding.Perform the binding procedure again (Section 4.3). Ensure transmitter is on first.
No response from model controls.Low transmitter/receiver battery, incorrect wiring, or binding issue.Check battery levels. Verify all connections between receiver, ESC, and servos. Re-bind if necessary.
Control surface moves in wrong direction.Channel reverse setting is incorrect.Adjust the corresponding reverse switch on the transmitter (RUD, THR, ELE, AIL).
Short range or intermittent signal.Interference, damaged antenna, or low battery.Operate in an open area. Check transmitter and receiver antennas for damage. Ensure batteries are fully charged.
