Before beginning the dent repair process, ensure all components are present and assemble the T-bar slide hammer as follows:

  1. Open Installation: Unpack all parts of the slide hammer.
  2. Connect T-shape and Rod: Securely connect the T-shaped handle to the long rod.
  3. Install Long Rod: Insert the long rod into the main body of the slide hammer.
  4. Pass Hammer Through: Guide the hammer weight through the long rod.
  5. Pass Spring Through: Place the spring onto the rod, ensuring it's positioned correctly.

4. Operating Instructions - Dent Removal Process

Follow these steps for effective paintless dent repair:

  1. Clean the Dent Area: Thoroughly clean the surface around the dent with the provided alcohol and clean cloth. Ensure the area is free of dirt, grease, and wax for optimal glue adhesion.
  2. Select a Glue Tab: Choose a suitable glue tab that is slightly smaller than the dent. The kit includes various sizes and shapes for different dent types.
  3. Apply Hot Glue: Insert a glue stick into the 20W glue gun and allow it to heat for 2-3 minutes. Apply a generous amount of hot glue to the center of the selected glue tab.
  4. Attach the Glue Tab: Immediately place the glue tab onto the center of the dent. Apply light pressure for a few seconds to ensure good contact. Allow the glue to cool and harden for approximately 5-8 minutes. The cooling time may vary based on ambient temperature.
  5. Attach the Puller: Connect the T-bar slide hammer to the stem of the glue tab.
  6. Pull the Dent: Hold the T-bar firmly and slide the hammer weight towards the handle in a controlled, repetitive motion. Apply gradual force until the dent begins to pull out. Avoid excessive force that could damage the paint.
  7. Remove the Glue Tab: Once the dent is sufficiently pulled, gently twist the glue tab to detach it from the surface. If needed, use the glue shovel to carefully pry it off.
  8. Clean Residue: Spray alcohol onto any remaining glue residue and use the glue shovel or clean cloth to remove it.
  9. Refine with Tap Down Pen (Optional): For high spots or minor imperfections, use the rubber hammer and tap down pen with appropriate heads to gently tap down the raised areas until the surface is smooth.

5. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and effectiveness of your dent repair kit:

  • Clean Tools: After each use, clean all tools, especially glue tabs and glue shovels, to remove any residual hot glue. Alcohol can be used to soften and remove stubborn glue.
  • Storage: Store all components in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Keep them organized to prevent loss or damage.
  • Inspect Components: Periodically inspect glue tabs for wear or damage. Replace any worn or broken tabs to maintain optimal performance.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues during the dent removal process, consider the following:

  • Glue Not Holding:
    • Ensure the dent surface is thoroughly clean and dry before applying the glue tab. Any residue (wax, oil, dirt) will prevent proper adhesion.
    • Allow sufficient time for the hot glue to cool and harden on the tab (typically 5-8 minutes). Premature pulling will result in poor adhesion.
    • Ensure the glue gun is adequately heated before applying glue.
    • Try a different type of glue stick (yellow or black) as some users report varying adhesion based on surface type and temperature.
  • Dent Not Pulling Out:
    • Use a glue tab that is appropriate for the size and shape of the dent. A tab too large or too small may be less effective.
    • Apply more force with the slide hammer, but always in a controlled manner to avoid over-pulling or damaging the paint.
    • For stubborn dents, multiple pulls may be necessary. Reapply glue and repeat the process.
    • Consider gently warming the dented area with a hairdryer (not a heat gun) before applying the glue tab, especially in colder conditions, to help the metal flex.
  • Paint Damage:
    • While designed for paintless repair, older or compromised paint finishes may be susceptible to damage. Exercise caution and test on an inconspicuous area if unsure.
    • Ensure glue is fully cooled before pulling.
