5. Setup
Follow these steps to set up your BOSS VE-500 Vocal Performer:
- Power Connection: Connect the included PSA Series AC adapter to the DC IN jack on the VE-500 and then to a power outlet.
- Microphone Connection: Connect your microphone to the MIC IN (XLR) jack.
- Output Connection: Connect the L/R OUTPUT (XLR) jacks to your mixer, audio interface, or PA system.
- Guitar Connection (Optional): If using guitar-driven harmonies or vocoder, connect your guitar to the INST INPUT (1/4" TS) jack. You can then connect the INST THRU (1/4" TS) jack to your guitar amplifier or other guitar effects.
- MIDI Connection (Optional): For MIDI control of harmony or other parameters, connect your MIDI device to the MIDI IN (5-pin DIN) jack.
- Expression Pedal/Footswitch (Optional): Connect an optional expression pedal or external footswitch to the CTL1,2/EXP (1/4" TRS) jack for expanded control.
6. Operating the VE-500

Basic Operation:
- Power On/Off: Press and hold the ON/OFF button to power the unit on or off.
- Preset Selection: Use the FX1 and FX2 footswitches to scroll through presets. The display will show the current preset number and name.
- Memory/Manual Mode: Press the MEMORY/MANUAL footswitch to toggle between memory (preset) mode and manual mode, where footswitches directly control individual effects.
- Bypass: Use the HARMONY footswitch to bypass the vocal effects.

The VE-500 allows extensive customization of its effects. You can edit parameters directly on the unit or use the dedicated Editor/Librarian software for Mac/PC.

- No Sound:
