4. Installation

The August Smart Lock is designed for easy installation on the inside of your door, replacing only the thumbturn of your existing single-cylinder deadbolt. Your existing exterior lock hardware remains unchanged.

5.1 Smart Lock Setup

1. Open the August app and create an account or log in.
2. Follow the in-app instructions to add your new Smart Lock.

5.2 August Connect Wi-Fi Bridge Setup

The Connect Wi-Fi Bridge is essential for remote access and smart home integrations.

1. Plug the August Connect Wi-Fi Bridge into an electrical outlet within 15 feet of your Smart Lock.
2. In the August app, navigate to the lock settings and select "Set Up Connect Device."
3. Ensure your smartphone is connected to your home's 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network during setup, as the bridge may not connect on a 5GHz network.
4. Follow the app's instructions to connect the bridge to your Wi-Fi network and link it to your Smart Lock.

6. Operating Instructions

The August Smart Lock offers multiple ways to control your door.

6.1 Using the August App

The August app is your primary interface for managing the Smart Lock.

• Lock/Unlock: Tap the large circle on the app's main screen to toggle between locked (red) and unlocked (green) states.
• Activity Feed: View a chronological log of all lock and unlock events, including who accessed the door and when.
• Guest Access: From the app, you can invite guests and set their access permissions (e.g., permanent, temporary, recurring).
• DoorSense: The app displays the current status of your door (open or closed) based on the DoorSense sensor.
