Setup
1. Charging the Battery
Insert the supplied battery into the battery charger. Connect the charger to a power outlet. The charging indicator will illuminate during charging and turn off when charging is complete. A full charge typically takes approximately 150 minutes. The camera also supports in-body charging via a USB-C cable.
2. Inserting a Memory Card
The Fujifilm X-T3 uses SDXC memory cards. Open the memory card slot cover and insert the card with the label facing the rear of the camera until it clicks into place. Ensure the card is correctly oriented to prevent damage. The camera features two memory card slots.
3. Attaching a Lens
Align the white mounting mark on the lens with the white mounting mark on the camera body. Rotate the lens clockwise until it clicks into place. To remove the lens, press the lens release button and rotate the lens counter-clockwise.
Operating the Camera
Basic Photography Modes
The X-T3 offers various shooting modes to suit different photographic needs:
- Program (P): The camera automatically sets aperture and shutter speed for optimal exposure.
- Shutter Priority (S): You set the shutter speed, and the camera selects the aperture. Ideal for controlling motion blur.
- Aperture Priority (A): You set the aperture, and the camera selects the shutter speed. Ideal for controlling depth of field.
- Manual (M): You control both aperture and shutter speed.
These modes are typically selected by adjusting the shutter speed and aperture dials, and setting the ISO dial.
Autofocus and Manual Focus
The camera features a 2.16M phase detection pixel system for fast and accurate focusing. Use the focus mode selector on the front of the camera to choose:
- AF-S (Single-Servo AF): For stationary subjects. Focus locks when the shutter button is pressed halfway.
- AF-C (Continuous-Servo AF): For moving subjects. Focus continuously adjusts while the shutter button is pressed halfway.
- MF (Manual Focus): For precise manual control over focus.
Video Recording
The X-T3 is capable of advanced video recording, including 4K/60P 10bit internal recording to an SD card, and 4K/60P 4:2:2 10bit HDMI output. To start recording, ensure the camera is in video mode (if applicable, or configured via menu settings) and press the dedicated video record button.
Film Simulation Modes
Leverage Fujifilm's renowned film simulation modes to achieve distinct photographic styles directly in-camera. The X-T3 includes 16 film simulation modes, such as ETERNA/CINEMA, which replicate the look of classic film stocks. These can be selected via the camera's menu system.
Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your camera.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the camera body. For the lens and sensor, use specialized cleaning tools and solutions. Avoid touching the sensor directly.
- Storage: When not in use, store the camera in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove the battery if storing for extended periods.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Fujifilm website for firmware updates to ensure your camera has the latest features and performance enhancements.
Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter. For more detailed troubleshooting, refer to the comprehensive manual available on the Fujifilm support website.
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| Camera does not turn on. | Ensure the battery is fully charged and correctly inserted. Check if the battery contacts are clean. |
| Images are blurry. | Check focus mode (AF-S/AF-C/MF) and ensure the subject is in focus. Verify shutter speed is fast enough to prevent camera shake, especially in low light. |
| Memory card error. | Ensure the memory card is inserted correctly. Try formatting the card (this will erase all data). Use a compatible SDXC card. |
| Video recording stops unexpectedly. | Ensure you are using a high-speed memory card suitable for 4K video recording. Check available storage space. |
