3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Unpacking

3.2 Placement

Position the pump on a solid, level surface as close to the pool as possible to minimize friction loss from long piping runs. Ensure adequate ventilation around the motor.

3.3 Electrical Wiring

This pump is designed for dual voltage operation (115V or 230V). The factory setting is typically 230V. Verify the correct voltage setting before connecting to power.

1. Disconnect all power to the pump.
2. Open the switch cover on the motor housing.

4. Identify the three lines from your power cord: green (ground), black (line), and white (neutral/line).
5. Remove the green screw from the ground terminal.
6. Connect the green ground wire to the ground terminal and tighten the screw securely.
7. Connect the black and white power lines to the remaining two terminals. The connection order for black and white wires does not matter for AC power.
8. If your line end is shovel-shaped, insert it into the plug part of the terminal. If it is Y-shaped, insert it to the bolt part of the terminal.
9. Securely close the switch cover.

3.4 Plumbing Connections

The internal inlet fitting is 1.5" NPT. Connect appropriate plumbing from your pool's skimmer/main drain to the pump's inlet and from the pump's outlet to your filter system. Use thread sealant on all threaded connections to prevent leaks.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Priming the Pump

Before starting the pump for the first time, or after cleaning the strainer basket, the pump must be primed.

1. Ensure all valves are open to allow water flow from the pool to the pump.
2. Remove the clear strainer cover.
3. Fill the strainer housing with water until it reaches the suction pipe level.
4. Replace the strainer cover, ensuring it is tightly sealed.
5. Turn on the pump. The pump should begin to draw water and expel air. If water does not flow within a few minutes, turn off the pump, re-prime, and check for air leaks in the suction line.

4.2 Normal Operation

Once primed, the pump will continuously circulate water through your pool's filtration system. Monitor the pressure gauge on your filter (if applicable) to ensure proper flow.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Strainer Basket

The strainer basket collects debris and should be checked and cleaned regularly to maintain optimal pump performance.

1. Turn off the pump and disconnect power.
2. Rotate the easy-thread strainer housing ring counter-clockwise to remove the clear cover.
3. Lift out the strainer basket.
4. Empty debris from the basket and rinse thoroughly with water.
5. Inspect the basket for cracks or damage. Replace if necessary.
6. Reinsert the clean basket into the housing.
7. Replace the clear cover and tighten the housing ring clockwise until snug. Do not overtighten.
8. Re-prime the pump as described in Section 4.1.

5.2 Winterization
