Setup
- Unpack the Antenna: Carefully remove the antenna from its packaging. It may be secured in a folded position with a Velcro strap.
- Extend the Antenna: Remove the Velcro strap and allow the antenna to straighten. The antenna is designed to be flexible and can be fully extended to its 18.8-inch length for optimal performance.
- Connect to Radio: Locate the SMA-Female connector at the base of the antenna. Align it with the SMA-Male port on your compatible radio (e.g., Baofeng UV-5R, BF-F8HP). Gently screw the antenna onto the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.
- Compatibility Check: Ensure your radio is compatible with SMA-Female antennas and operates within the 144/430MHz frequency range for best results.

Operating Instructions
This antenna is designed to optimize your radio's performance, particularly in challenging environments. For best results, ensure the antenna is fully extended when transmitting or receiving.
- Optimal Performance: For maximum range and clarity, operate the antenna in its fully extended position. This allows the antenna to resonate effectively at its designed frequencies.
- Foldable Design Use: The antenna can be folded for compact storage or transport. When folded, secure it with the provided Velcro strap. While it can operate in a folded state, performance will be significantly reduced.
- Signal Improvement: The high gain of this antenna is most noticeable in areas where signal strength is marginal, helping to improve communication reliability at the edge of your radio's coverage.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the antenna with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt or dust. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Storage: When not in use, fold the antenna and secure it with the Velcro strap. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid sharp bends or kinks that could damage the internal elements.
- Connection Check: Periodically inspect the SMA-Female connector for any signs of wear or damage. Ensure it remains clean and free of debris to maintain a good connection with your radio.

Troubleshooting
- Poor Signal Quality:
- Ensure the antenna is fully extended.
- Check that the antenna is securely connected to the radio.
- Verify that your radio is set to the correct frequency and mode.
- Consider environmental factors (e.g., obstacles, terrain) that may impede signal.
- Antenna Not Fitting:
- Confirm your radio has an SMA-Male connector. This antenna is SMA-Female.
- Do not force the connection; improper fitting can damage the antenna or radio.
- Antenna Damage:
- Avoid excessive force when bending or straightening the antenna.
- Protect the antenna from sharp objects or extreme impacts.
