Setup

Powering the Machine

The KPCB Tech Mini Sewing Machine can be powered by either the included US adapter or 4 AA batteries (not included).

• Adapter: Insert the DC power plug into the DC Power Port on the machine and plug the adapter into a wall outlet.
• Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the machine and insert 4 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.

Threading the Machine

Correct threading is crucial for proper operation. The machine uses a double-thread system.

1. Upper Thread:
   1. Place a spool of thread on the Thread Spindle.
   2. Guide the thread through the first thread guide (1).
   3. Pass the thread through the tension disc (2) and then up through the take-up lever (3).
   4. Thread through the remaining guides (4, 5, 6).
   5. Finally, thread the needle (7) from front to back. Pull at least 6 inches of thread through the needle eye.
2. Lower Thread (Bobbin):
   1. Open the bobbin cover (8).
   2. Insert a wound bobbin into the bobbin case, ensuring the thread unwinds in the correct direction (usually counter-clockwise).
   3. Pull the bobbin thread through the small slot in the bobbin case.
   4. Hold the upper thread with one hand, and turn the handwheel towards you to lower the needle. The needle will catch the bobbin thread and pull it up through the needle plate.
   5. Pull both upper and lower threads under the presser foot and towards the back of the machine, leaving about 4-6 inches of thread.

Winding Bobbins

To wind a new bobbin:

1. Place an empty bobbin onto the Winding Pole.
2. Place a spool of thread on the Thread Spindle.
3. Guide the thread from the spool through the bobbin winding tension disc.
4. Wrap the thread around the empty bobbin a few times.
5. Push the Winding Pole towards the right to engage the winding mechanism.
6. Press the foot pedal or speed button to start winding. Stop when the bobbin is full.
7. Cut the thread and remove the wound bobbin.

Operating Instructions

Starting to Sew

1. Ensure the machine is properly threaded (both upper and lower threads).
2. Lift the presser foot using the Presser Foot Lever.
3. Place your fabric under the presser foot.
4. Lower the presser foot onto the fabric.
5. Turn the Handwheel towards you to lower the needle into the fabric at the starting point.
6. Select your desired speed using the Speed Button (slow or standard).
7. Press the ON/OFF Switch or the Foot Pedal to begin sewing. Guide the fabric gently as you sew.

Ending a Stitch

To properly end your stitching and remove the fabric:

1. Release the foot pedal or press the speed button to stop sewing.
2. Turn the Handwheel to raise the needle to its highest position.
3. Lift the presser foot using the Presser Foot Lever.
4. Gently pull the fabric away from the machine.
5. Use the built-in Thread Cutter to cut the threads, leaving enough length for the next stitch.

Fabric Compatibility
