1. Product Overview

The Kastar NP-F980 Pro Battery is a high-capacity Lithium-Ion battery designed as a replacement for various Sony NP-F series batteries. 3. Setup and Initial Use

3.1 Unpacking

3.2 Initial Charging

Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the battery. The battery comes with some charge, but a full charge ensures optimal performance and battery life.

1. Locate the USB-C input port on the side of the battery.
2. Connect the provided USB-A to USB-C cable to the battery's USB-C input port.
3. Plug the USB-A end of the cable into a compatible USB power source (e.g., a 5V 2A wall adapter, computer USB port, or power bank).
4. The LED indicators on the battery will illuminate to show the charging progress. All 4 LEDs will be solid when fully charged.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Using the Battery with Compatible Devices

Insert the Kastar NP-F980 Pro battery into the battery compartment of your compatible Sony camcorder or other device that uses NP-F series batteries. Ensure it is securely seated.

4.2 Checking Battery Status

Press the "CHECK" button located next to the LED indicators on the battery. The 4 LED lights will illuminate to show the current charge level:

• 1 LED: 0-25% charge
• 2 LEDs: 25-50% charge
• 3 LEDs: 50-75% charge
• 4 LEDs: 75-100% charge

4.3 Using as a Power Bank (USB Output)

The battery can provide power to other devices via its USB-A output port (labeled "2.1A OUTPUT").

1. Locate the USB-A output port on the side of the battery.
2. Connect your device's charging cable (USB-A end) to this port.
3. Connect the other end of the cable to your device. The battery will begin charging your device.

5. Maintenance and Storage

• Keep the battery clean and dry. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surface.
• Store the battery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• For long-term storage, charge the battery to approximately 50-70% capacity. Avoid storing it fully charged or completely depleted.
• Do not expose the battery to water or excessive moisture.
• Avoid dropping or subjecting the battery to strong impacts.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Battery Not Charging

• Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the battery and the power source.
• Verify that the power source (e.g., wall adapter) is functioning correctly and provides at least 5V 2A output.
• Try a different USB cable or power source.
• Check if the charging ports on the battery are free of debris.

6.2 Device Not Charging from Battery (Power Bank Function)

• Ensure the battery has sufficient charge (check LED indicators).
• Verify that the cable connecting the battery to your device is functional and correctly inserted.
• Confirm your device is compatible with USB charging and the required input current.

6.3 Shortened Battery Life

• Ensure the battery is being fully charged before use.
• Avoid operating the battery in extreme hot or cold environments, as this can affect performance.
• Over time, all rechargeable batteries experience a natural decrease in capacity.
