Product Overview
The Orion Motor Tech Wheel Bearing Press Kit is a comprehensive 24-piece tool set designed for the efficient and safe removal and installation of front wheel drive bearings. This kit eliminates the need for hammering and avoids disturbing the front-end alignment, preserving the integrity of the steering knuckle and strut assembly.
Constructed from premium stainless steel with heat-treated and blackened sliding screws, the kit offers superior strength and corrosion resistance for long-lasting service. Its universal compatibility with multiple sleeves and bushings makes it suitable for a wide range of front wheel drive automobiles and light trucks, both foreign and domestic.

Kit Components
This 24-piece set includes all necessary components for wheel bearing service:
- 4 x Sleeves
- 2 x Sleeve Plates
- 12 x Bushings (various sizes)
- 2 x Washers
- 1 x Sliding Screw (threaded rod)
- 1 x Sliding Nut
- 1 x Wheel Hub Installer

Setup
Before starting any bearing removal or installation, ensure your workspace is clean, well-lit, and free of obstructions. Gather all necessary tools, including the Orion Motor Tech Wheel Bearing Press Kit, a suitable breaker bar or ratchet, and any other vehicle-specific tools required.
- Safely lift and support the vehicle using jack stands or a hydraulic lift.
- Remove the wheel and brake caliper assembly to gain access to the wheel hub and bearing.
- Clean the area around the bearing to remove any dirt, rust, or debris that could interfere with the tool's operation.
- Inspect all components of the wheel bearing press kit for any signs of damage or wear. Do not use damaged components.
- Apply a generous amount of lubricant to the threads of the sliding screw (threaded rod) to ensure smooth operation and prevent galling.
Operating Instructions
Bearing Removal
This kit allows for the removal of the wheel bearing without removing the steering knuckle from the vehicle, saving time and avoiding the need for a front-end alignment.
- Select the appropriate sleeve and bushing sizes that match the outer diameter of the bearing and the inner diameter of the steering knuckle.
- Position the sleeve and bushing on either side of the bearing, ensuring they are properly aligned. The larger sleeve will typically be on the side the bearing is being pressed out towards.
- Insert the lubricated sliding screw through the center of the assembly and thread on the sliding nut.
- Using a breaker bar or large ratchet, slowly and steadily turn the sliding nut to apply pressure. The bearing will begin to press out of the steering knuckle.
- Continue turning until the bearing is fully removed. Do not force the tool if resistance is excessive; re-check alignment and lubrication.

Bearing Installation
Installing the new bearing requires careful alignment and controlled pressure to prevent damage.
- Clean the bearing bore in the steering knuckle thoroughly. Ensure it is free of any burrs or debris.
- Select the correct sleeve and bushing sizes for the new bearing. The sleeve should press on the outer race of the bearing only, never the inner race or the hub.
- Carefully align the new bearing with the bore in the steering knuckle.
- Position the sleeve and bushing on either side of the bearing and knuckle.
- Insert the lubricated sliding screw through the center and thread on the sliding nut.
- Slowly and steadily turn the sliding nut with a breaker bar or large ratchet. The bearing will be pressed into the steering knuckle.
- Ensure the bearing goes in straight and smoothly. If it binds, stop, re-align, and re-lubricate.
- Continue pressing until the bearing is fully seated. Do not over-press.

IMPORTANT: Never use an impact wrench or air tools with this kit. The high torque and sudden force can damage the threads of the sliding screw and other components, voiding any warranty and potentially causing injury.
Maintenance
Proper maintenance will extend the life of your Orion Motor Tech Wheel Bearing Press Kit.
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe down all components with a clean cloth to remove grease, dirt, and metal shavings. A mild degreaser can be used if necessary.
- Lubrication: Regularly apply a thin coat of machine oil or grease to the threaded rod and nut to prevent rust and ensure smooth operation.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect all components for signs of wear, cracks, or deformation. Pay close attention to the threads of the sliding screw and nut. Replace any damaged parts immediately.
- Storage: Always return all components to their designated slots in the blow-molded storage case. Store the case in a dry, clean environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Troubleshooting
- Bearing is difficult to remove/install:
- Ensure the threaded rod is adequately lubricated. Verify that the correct size sleeves and bushings are being used and are properly aligned. Check for any burrs or obstructions in the bearing bore. For stubborn bearings, allow penetrating oil to soak in for some time before attempting removal again.
- Threads on the sliding screw or nut are stripping:
- This is often caused by insufficient lubrication or the use of impact tools. Always lubricate the threads before use. Never use impact wrenches; only apply manual, steady force with a breaker bar or ratchet. If threads are damaged, the affected components must be replaced.
- Components are slipping or misaligning:
- Ensure all components are clean and free of grease or debris that could cause slippage. Double-check that the sleeves and bushings are seated squarely against the bearing and knuckle. Apply steady, even pressure.
