Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the smooth operation and longevity of your door lever.
- Cleaning: Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of graphite lubricant or a silicone-based spray to the latch mechanism and keyway. Avoid oil-based lubricants as they can attract dust and debris.
- Tightening Screws: Over time, mounting screws may loosen. Periodically check and tighten all visible screws to ensure the lever remains securely attached to the door.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your door lever, refer to the following common solutions:
- Lever is loose: Check and tighten the mounting screws on both the interior and exterior sides of the door.
- Latch bolt does not retract smoothly: Ensure the latch is properly aligned with the strike plate. Lubricate the latch mechanism as described in the Maintenance section.
- Key is difficult to turn or remove: Apply graphite lubricant to the keyway. Ensure the key is fully inserted before turning. Do not force the key.
- Door does not latch: Verify that the strike plate is correctly aligned with the latch bolt. Adjust the strike plate position if necessary.
