Setup

1. Unpacking and Placement

• Carefully remove the printer from its packaging.
• Remove all protective tapes and packing materials from the exterior and interior of the printer.
• Place the printer on a stable, flat surface with adequate space for paper loading and output.

2. Power Connection

• Connect the supplied power cord to the printer's power input port, typically located at the rear.
• Plug the other end of the power cord into a wall outlet.
• Press the power button on the printer's control panel to turn it on.

3. Ink Cartridge Installation

The Canon PIXMA TR4520 uses two ink cartridges: one black (PG-545) and one color (CL-546). Follow these steps to install them:

1. Open the front cover of the printer to access the cartridge installation area. The cartridge holder will move to the center.
2. Unpack the black ink cartridge (PG-545) and remove its protective tape.
3. Insert the black cartridge into the right slot, pushing it firmly until it clicks into place.
4. Unpack the color ink cartridge (CL-546) and remove its protective tape.
5. Insert the color cartridge into the left slot, pushing it firmly until it clicks into place.
6. Close the front cover. The printer will begin initialization.

4. Paper Loading

• Open the paper support and pull out the paper output tray.
• Load paper into the rear paper tray, ensuring it is aligned with the paper guides.
• Adjust the paper guides to fit the width of the paper.

5. Software Installation and Wireless Setup

• Insert the Setup CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive, or visit the Canon website to download the latest drivers and software for the PIXMA TR4520.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the software installation.
• During the setup process, you will be prompted to connect the printer to your computer. For wireless setup, select the wireless connection option and follow the instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
• Alternatively, you can connect the printer directly to your computer using a USB cable (not included).

1. Printing Documents and Photos

3. Faxing

4. Mobile Printing and Smart Assistant Integration

• Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app: Download the app to print photos and documents directly from your smartphone or tablet.
• AirPrint/Mopria Print Service: Print wirelessly from compatible iOS and Android devices without installing additional drivers.
• Works with Alexa: Enable the Canon printer skill in the Alexa app. You can then use voice commands to print various items like shopping lists or coloring pages.

Maintenance

1. Ink Cartridge Replacement

When an ink cartridge runs low or is empty, the printer's display will indicate which cartridge needs replacement. To replace a cartridge:

1. Ensure the printer is powered on.
2. Open the front cover. The print head holder will move to the center.
3. Gently push down on the empty cartridge until it unlatches, then pull it out.
4. Unpack the new cartridge and remove its protective tape.
5. Insert the new cartridge into the correct slot (black on the right, color on the left) and push firmly until it clicks into place.
6. Close the front cover. The printer will perform an alignment process.

2. Cleaning

• Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the printer with a soft, damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners.
• Scanner Glass: Clean the scanner glass with a soft, lint-free cloth moistened with glass cleaner. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the glass.
