Setup and Installation
1. Battery Installation
The cycle computer and sensor each require a CR2032 battery. Open the battery compartment on the back of the computer unit and the sensor, insert the batteries with the positive (+) side facing up, and securely close the covers.
2. Mounting the Cycle Computer
- Attach the handlebar mounting bracket to your bicycle's handlebar or stem using the provided zip ties. Ensure it is securely fastened and positioned for easy viewing.
- Slide the cycle computer unit onto the mounting bracket until it clicks into place.
3. Mounting the Speed Sensor and Magnet
- Attach the wireless speed sensor to the front fork of your bicycle using the provided zip ties. Position it on the side where the wheel magnet will be installed.
- Attach the wheel magnet to a spoke on the front wheel.
- Adjust the position of the sensor and magnet so that the magnet passes within 5mm of the sensor as the wheel rotates. Ensure the magnet aligns with the marked area on the sensor.
4. Initial Configuration (Wheel Circumference)
Accurate speed and distance readings depend on correct wheel circumference settings. Refer to your bicycle's tire size for the correct value. Common wheel circumferences (in mm) are:
- 700x23C: 2096 mm
- 26x1.75: 2035 mm
- 27x1 1/4: 2161 mm
- 29x2.1: 2288 mm
To set the wheel circumference:
- Press and hold the SET button for a few seconds until the display enters setup mode.
- Use the MODE button to adjust the flashing digit.
- Press the SET button to confirm the digit and move to the next.
- Repeat until the full circumference is entered, then press SET to confirm and exit.
Operating Instructions
Button Functions
- MODE Button: Short press to cycle through different display modes (e.g., Current Speed, Average Speed, Distance, Time). Long press (typically 3 seconds) to enter or exit certain settings or reset trip data.
- SET Button: Used to confirm selections or adjust values during setup. Short press to confirm, long press to enter setup mode.
Display Modes
Press the MODE button to navigate through the following display screens:
- SPD (Current Speed): Displays your real-time speed.
- AVS (Average Speed): Shows the average speed of your current ride.
- MXS (Maximum Speed): Records the highest speed achieved during your current ride.
- DST (Distance Traveled): Displays the distance covered in your current ride.
- ODO (Total Distance): Shows the accumulated total distance of all rides. This value is generally not resettable by the user.
- SW (Stopwatch): Measures the duration of your ride.
- CLK (Clock): Displays the current time.
- TEMP (Temperature): Shows the ambient temperature.
- CAL (Calories): Estimates calories burned during the ride.
- FAT (Fat Burned): Estimates fat burned during the ride.
- SCAN: Automatically cycles through various data displays every few seconds.
Resetting Trip Data
To reset trip-specific data (e.g., AVS, MXS, DST, SW, CAL, FAT) for a new ride, navigate to any of these modes and press and hold the MODE button for approximately 3 seconds until the values reset to zero. The ODO (Total Distance) typically cannot be reset.
Maintenance
Cleaning
Wipe the cycle computer and sensor with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the display or casing. The unit is water-resistant but not submersible; avoid direct high-pressure water jets.
Battery Replacement
When the display becomes dim or erratic, it's time to replace the CR2032 batteries in both the computer unit and the sensor. Follow the battery installation steps outlined in the "Setup and Installation" section. Dispose of old batteries responsibly.
Sensor and Magnet Alignment
Periodically check the alignment of the speed sensor and wheel magnet. Ensure they remain within 5mm of each other and are securely fastened to prevent inaccurate readings.
Troubleshooting
- No Speed Reading:
- Check battery in sensor and computer.
- Verify sensor and magnet alignment (within 5mm).
- Ensure the sensor is securely mounted and not rotating.
- Inaccurate Readings:
- Confirm correct wheel circumference setting.
- Check for interference from other electronic devices.
- Display is Blank or Dim:
- Replace the computer unit battery.
- Ensure the computer is properly seated in its mount.
- Unit Not Turning On/Off Automatically:
- Ensure the computer is receiving signals from the sensor.
