This replacement switch is designed to offer enhanced protection against dust and water, which are common causes of failure in standard ignition switches. It features a dual-layer protection system, including a custom-fit rubber grommet/nut system and a protective umbrella key, to shield internal components from environmental elements.

  • Always disconnect the vehicle's battery before attempting any electrical work to prevent electrical shock or damage to the system.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and gloves.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a stable, level surface and the parking brake is engaged before beginning installation.
  • If you are unsure about any step, consult a qualified technician.

4. Installation Instructions

Follow these steps to replace your existing ignition switch with the HD Switch Ignition Switch:

  1. Prepare the Vehicle: Ensure the vehicle is turned off, the key is removed, and the battery is disconnected.
  2. Access the Ignition Switch: Locate and access the existing ignition switch on your equipment. This may require removing dashboard panels or other covers.
  3. Disconnect Wiring: Carefully label and disconnect all wires from the old ignition switch. Take a photo for reference if needed.
  4. Remove Old Switch: Unscrew or unclip the old ignition switch from its mounting location.
  5. Install Protective Grommet System: Slide the protective rubber grommet onto the shaft of the new HD Switch ignition switch. Then, secure it with the provided nut. This system creates a seal to prevent water and dust ingress when the key is out.

  3. On Position: Turn the key to the second position (usually labeled 'ON') to power the vehicle's electrical system and prepare for engine start.
  4. Start Engine: Turn the key further to the 'START' position. Release the key once the engine starts; it will spring back to the 'ON' position.
  5. Turn Off Engine: Turn the key counter-clockwise to the 'OFF' position to shut down the engine and electrical system. Remove the key to engage the dual protection system.

6. Maintenance
