Setup

Subwoofer Placement

The placement of your subwoofer can significantly impact its performance. Experiment with different locations to find the best sound for your room. Generally, placing the subwoofer in a corner of the room can maximize its output and provide a more impactful bass response. Avoid placing it directly against a wall if possible, as this can sometimes lead to boomy or undefined bass.

Connections

The R-100SW features Line Level LFE RCA inputs for compatibility with most home theater receivers. Follow these steps to connect your subwoofer:

1. Ensure your receiver and the subwoofer are powered off before making any connections.
2. Locate the "SUBWOOFER OUT" or "LFE OUT" RCA jack on your home theater receiver.
3. Connect one end of an RCA cable (not included) to the "SUBWOOFER OUT" or "LFE OUT" jack on your receiver.
4. Connect the other end of the RCA cable to the "LINE IN / LFE" input on the back of the Klipsch R-100SW subwoofer.
5. Connect the provided power cord to the AC input on the subwoofer and then to a wall outlet.

Initial Settings

After connecting, you will need to adjust the subwoofer's settings for optimal performance with your system:

• Volume (Gain): Start with the volume knob set to the middle position (12 o'clock). Adjust this to blend the subwoofer's output with your main speakers.
• Low-Pass Crossover: This control determines the highest frequency the subwoofer will reproduce. If your receiver has a built-in crossover setting for the subwoofer, set the subwoofer's low-pass knob to its maximum (LFE) setting. If your receiver does not have this feature, set the low-pass crossover to approximately 80-100 Hz, or slightly above the lowest frequency your main speakers can reproduce.
• Phase: The phase control (0°/180°) helps to ensure that the subwoofer's sound waves are in sync with your main speakers. Experiment with both settings to determine which provides the most impactful and cohesive bass response at your listening position.

Operating

Power On/Off

The Klipsch R-100SW features an auto power on/off function. When connected to your receiver and receiving an audio signal, the subwoofer will automatically power on. If no audio signal is detected for a period, it will enter a standby mode to conserve energy. You can also manually power the unit on or off using the power switch on the rear panel.

Adjusting Sound
