1. Introduction

This guide provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your new coffee maker. Please read all instructions carefully before first use and retain for future reference.

2. Important Safety Information

Always follow basic safety precautions when using electrical appliances to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons:

  • Read all instructions.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plugs, or coffee maker in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to “off,” then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  • Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycles.
  • This appliance is for household use only.

5. Setup

5.1 First-Time Use

  1. Remove all packaging materials, stickers, and labels from the coffee maker.
  2. Wash the carafe, permanent filter, and removable water reservoir in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  3. Place the coffee maker on a clean, dry, and level surface.
  4. Fill the removable water reservoir with fresh water up to the 12-cup line.
  5. Insert the permanent filter into the brew basket. Do not add coffee grounds for the initial cleaning cycle.
  6. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
  7. Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
  8. Run a full 12-cup Classic brew cycle with only water to clean the internal components. Discard the water after the cycle.

5.2 Setting the Clock

To set the clock:

  • Press the 'H' button to set the hour.
  • Press the 'M' button to set the minutes.
  • Ensure the AM/PM indicator is correct.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic Brewing

  1. Fill the removable water reservoir with fresh water to your desired brew size.
  2. Place the permanent filter (or a #4 cone paper filter) into the brew basket.
  3. Add your desired amount of ground coffee to the filter. Use the integrated Ninja scoop for accurate measurement (1 scoop per cup).
  4. Ensure the carafe is empty and placed on the warming plate.
  5. Select your desired brew strength: CLASSIC for a balanced flavor or RICH for a more intense taste.
  6. Press the BREW button to start the brewing cycle.

6.2 Small Batch Brewing (1-4 Cups)

For brewing smaller quantities (1-4 cups) without diluting the flavor:

  • Follow steps 1-3 from Basic Brewing.
  • Press the SMALL BATCH button. The indicator light will illuminate.
  • Select your desired brew strength (Classic or Rich).
  • Press the BREW button.

6.3 Delay Brew

To program your coffee maker to brew at a later time:

  1. Prepare your coffee maker for brewing as described in Basic Brewing (water, coffee grounds, carafe in place).
  2. Press the DELAY BREW button. The indicator light will illuminate.
  3. Use the 'H' and 'M' buttons to set your desired start time.
  4. Select your desired brew strength (Classic or Rich) and optionally SMALL BATCH.
  5. The coffee maker will automatically start brewing at the set time.

6.4 Keep Warm Function

The precision warming plate keeps your coffee hot and flavorful for up to 4 hours.

  • The warming plate automatically activates after brewing.
  • To adjust the keep warm duration, press the STAY WARM button and use the 'H' and 'M' buttons to set the desired time (up to 4 hours).

6.5 Mid-Brew Pause

To pour a cup of coffee before the brewing cycle is complete:

  • Carefully remove the carafe from the warming plate. The brewing will pause automatically.
  • Pour your desired amount of coffee.
  • Return the carafe to the warming plate within 20 seconds to resume brewing.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

  • Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning.
  • Carafe, Permanent Filter, Water Reservoir: These parts are top-rack dishwasher safe or can be hand-washed with warm, soapy water.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water.
  • Warming Plate: Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

7.2 Descaling

Over time, mineral deposits can build up in your coffee maker, affecting performance and taste. The CLEAN button will illuminate when descaling is recommended.

  1. Empty the carafe and water reservoir.
  2. Pour 16 oz. (2 cups) of white vinegar into the water reservoir, then fill the rest with water up to the 12-cup line.
  3. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
  4. Press the CLEAN button. The indicator light will illuminate.
  5. The cleaning cycle will begin and take approximately 20-30 minutes.
  6. Once the cycle is complete, discard the cleaning solution.
  7. Run two full 12-cup Classic brew cycles with fresh water only to rinse the system. Discard the water after each cycle.

8. Troubleshooting
