3. Operating Instructions
The MAXXHAUL 50021 Trailer Hitch Cover operates automatically once properly installed and connected to your vehicle's 4-way flat pin trailer wiring harness.
- Running/Tail Light Function: When your vehicle's headlights or running lights are activated, the 12 LEDs on the hitch cover will illuminate at a lower intensity, serving as an additional tail light.
- Brake Light Function: When the vehicle's brake pedal is pressed, the 12 LEDs on the hitch cover will illuminate at a higher intensity, functioning as an additional brake light.
This dual functionality enhances your vehicle's visibility to other drivers, especially when a trailer is not connected to the hitch receiver.

4. Maintenance
The MAXXHAUL 50021 Trailer Hitch Cover requires minimal maintenance:
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the lens with a soft, damp cloth to ensure maximum light output. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could scratch the plastic.
- Wiring Inspection: Regularly check the 4-way flat pin connector and wiring for any signs of damage, corrosion, or loose connections. Ensure the wiring is securely routed and not exposed to excessive rubbing or pinching.
- Hitch Pin Security: Verify that the hitch pin is always securely in place when the cover is installed to prevent accidental detachment.
- Gasket Condition: Inspect the rubber gasket for wear or damage. A damaged gasket may compromise the snug fit.
