Operating Instructions
Programming Microchips
To program your pet's microchip, ensure batteries are installed. Follow the specific instructions in the included Installation Guide to put the cat flap into learning mode. Guide your pet through the flap so its microchip can be read and stored by the device. The flap can store up to 40 unique microchip IDs.
4-Way Manual Locking System
The cat flap features a manual 4-way locking system, allowing you to control your pet's access. The settings are adjusted via a dial or levers on the unit:
- In and Out: Allows free movement in both directions for programmed pets.
- In Only: Allows programmed pets to enter but not exit.
- Out Only: Allows programmed pets to exit but not enter.
- Locked: Prevents all movement in both directions.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your PetSafe Microchip Cat Flap.
Cleaning
Wipe the cat flap and surrounding areas with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that could damage the plastic or electronic components.
Battery Replacement
When the batteries are low, the indicator light on the unit may change or flash. Replace all 4 AA non-rechargeable alkaline batteries simultaneously to ensure consistent power. Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types.
Troubleshooting
Common Issues and Solutions
- Flap not opening for pet:
- Ensure your pet's microchip is compatible (FDX-B, 15-digit).
- Verify the cat flap is in the correct locking mode (e.g., 'In and Out' or 'In Only').
- Check battery levels and replace if necessary.
- Re-program your pet's microchip to ensure it is properly stored.
- Unwanted animals entering:
- Ensure the cat flap is set to a microchip-activated mode (not fully open).
- Confirm that only your pets' microchips are programmed into the system.
- Cat hesitant to use the flap:
- Allow time for your cat to adjust. You may need to prop the flap open initially.
- Use treats or toys to encourage your cat to pass through the flap.
- Some cats may be sensitive to the clicking sound of the lock; consider gradual introduction.
