1. Introduction
The Erica Synths Pico SEQ is an ultra-compact, feature-rich 16-step CV/Gate sequencer Eurorack module. Designed for modular synthesis systems, it provides precise control over pitch (CV) and timing (Gate) for your sound modules. Its small footprint and intuitive interface make it an essential tool for creating complex melodic and rhythmic patterns within your Eurorack setup.

2. Safety Information
Please read these instructions carefully before using the module. This manual contains important information about the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Pico SEQ module. Keep this manual for future reference.
- Power: This module requires a Eurorack power supply. Ensure your Eurorack case provides stable and sufficient power (+12V, -12V, +5V if applicable) before connecting the module. Always connect the power cable correctly, aligning the red stripe on the cable with the -12V pin on both the module and the power bus board. Incorrect connection can cause severe damage to the module and/or power supply.
- Installation: Install the module in a standard Eurorack case. Ensure proper ventilation and avoid exposing the module to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
- Handling: Avoid dropping or subjecting the module to strong impacts. Do not attempt to open or modify the module. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
- Cleaning: Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
3. Setup
3.1. Eurorack Installation
- Power Off: Ensure your Eurorack case is powered off and disconnected from the mains supply before installation.
- Locate Space: Find an available 3HP space in your Eurorack case.
- Connect Power: Connect the included 10-pin Eurorack power cable to the module's power header. Ensure the red stripe on the cable aligns with the -12V marking on the module's PCB.
- Connect to Bus Board: Connect the other end of the power cable to an available 10-pin header on your Eurorack power bus board, again ensuring the red stripe aligns with the -12V marking.
- Mount Module: Carefully place the module into the desired position in your Eurorack case. Secure it using the provided screws. Do not overtighten.
- Power On: Once securely installed, you can reconnect your Eurorack case to the mains and power it on. The module's display should illuminate.
3.2. Front Panel Overview

Figure 2: Front panel of the Erica Synths Pico SEQ. This image details the display, buttons, and jacks for control and connectivity.
- SEQ Display: A single-digit LED display indicating the current step number or parameter value.
- STEP Button: Used to navigate between steps or confirm selections.
- VALUE Button: Used to adjust the CV value for the current step or modify parameters.
- RND / L/S Switch: A three-position switch for Randomization (RND), Load (L), and Save (S) functions.
- CLK IN Jack: Clock input for synchronizing the sequencer to an external clock source.
- GATE Jack: Gate output, typically used to trigger envelopes or drum modules.
- CV Jack: Control Voltage output, typically used to control the pitch of an oscillator.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Basic Sequencing
- Connect Outputs: Connect the CV output to the 1V/Oct input of an oscillator and the GATE output to the gate input of an envelope generator or VCA.
- Connect Clock: Connect an external clock source to the CLK IN jack. The sequencer will advance one step per clock pulse.
- Select Step: Press the STEP button to cycle through the 16 steps. The SEQ display will show the current step number (1-16).
- Set CV Value: With a step selected, press the VALUE button to adjust the CV output for that step. The display will temporarily show the value. Continue pressing VALUE to cycle through available voltage levels (e.g., corresponding to musical notes).
- Set Gate Length: The Pico SEQ features adjustable gate length. While a step is selected, a combination of button presses (refer to the full manual for specific combinations) allows you to modify the duration of the gate signal for that step.
4.2. Pattern Stage and Glide
- Pattern Stage: The module supports different pattern stages, allowing for variations in sequence playback. Specific button combinations or modes (detailed in the comprehensive manual) enable selection and manipulation of these stages.
- Glide: To introduce portamento or glide between steps, activate the glide function for specific steps or the entire sequence. This feature smooths the transition between CV values, creating a continuous pitch change. Consult the detailed manual for activation methods.
4.3. Randomization, Load, and Save
The RND / L/S switch provides access to advanced functions:
- RND (Randomize): When the switch is in the RND position, the module can generate random CV values for steps, or randomize the sequence order, depending on the mode. This is useful for experimental sound design.
- L (Load): In the L position, the module can load previously saved sequences from its internal memory.
- S (Save): In the S position, the module can save the current sequence to its internal memory for recall later.
Note: Specific procedures for randomization, loading, and saving sequences, including memory slots and confirmation steps, are detailed in the complete Erica Synths Pico SEQ manual.
5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Keep the module clean by wiping it with a dry, soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or alcohol-based solutions, as these can damage the finish and components.
- Environment: Ensure the module is operated in a clean, dust-free environment with stable temperature and humidity. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight or heat sources.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Erica Synths website for any available firmware updates for the Pico SEQ. Follow the provided instructions carefully for any update procedures.
6. Troubleshooting
- Module Not Powering On:
- Check that the Eurorack case is powered on.
- Verify the power cable is correctly connected to both the module and the bus board, with the red stripe aligned to -12V.
- Ensure your Eurorack power supply is functioning correctly and providing sufficient current.
- No CV/Gate Output:
- Confirm an external clock signal is connected to the CLK IN jack and is active.
- Check that the CV and GATE cables are securely connected to destination modules.
- Ensure the steps have been programmed with non-zero CV values and active gates.
- Incorrect Sequencing/Values:
- Recalibrate or reset the module if available (refer to the full manual for reset procedures).
- Ensure the RND / L/S switch is not accidentally set to RND if unexpected values are appearing.
- Verify the clock signal is stable and within the module's specified range.
- Still Experiencing Issues: If troubleshooting steps do not resolve the problem, contact Erica Synths customer support or your dealer for further assistance.
