  2. Activate the Light: Before placing the light in the ground, locate the power button on the back of the solar panel. Press and hold this button for 3 seconds to turn on the light. The light will then be in automatic mode.
  3. Choose a Location: Select an outdoor location that receives direct sunlight for 6-8 hours daily to ensure optimal charging. Avoid areas under eaves, trees, or other obstructions that might block sunlight.
  4. Insert into Ground: Firmly insert the assembled light into the ground using the stake. Ensure the solar panel is facing upwards towards the sun.
  5. Adjust Angle: The solar panel and the light head are adjustable. Adjust the solar panel to maximize sun exposure and direct the light head to illuminate your desired area (e.g., garden, pathway, flag). The solar panel can be adjusted 180 degrees and the lamp holder 90 degrees.

5. Operation

Once activated and sufficiently charged, the JSOT Solar Spot Lights operate automatically.

  • Automatic ON/OFF: The built-in light sensor in the solar panel detects ambient light. The lights will automatically turn on at dusk when it gets dark and turn off at dawn when it becomes bright.
  • Charging: The solar panel charges the internal battery during the day when exposed to sunlight. A full charge typically requires 6-8 hours of direct sunlight.
  • Working Time: When fully charged, the lights can operate for more than 8 hours. Note that lighting time may be shorter in colder temperatures (below 65°F), approximately 2-4 hours, as battery efficiency decreases.

6. Brightness Modes

The JSOT Solar Spot Lights feature two brightness modes to suit different lighting needs.

  • Switching Modes: After activating the light (long press for 3 seconds), press the power button briefly to cycle between the two modes.
  • High Lighting Mode: Provides 600 lumens of bright illumination. This is the first mode after activation.
  • Dim Lighting Mode: Provides 200 lumens for a softer glow. Press the button a second time to switch to this mode.

8. Maintenance

To ensure the optimal performance and longevity of your solar spot lights, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Clean Solar Panel: Regularly wipe the solar panel with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, leaves, or snow. A clean panel ensures efficient charging.
  • Clear Obstructions: Periodically check that no new obstructions (e.g., growing plants, new structures) are blocking direct sunlight from reaching the solar panel.
  • Battery Replacement: The included Lithium Polymer battery has an average life of 1 year. If the light's performance significantly degrades over time, consider replacing the battery with a compatible AAA rechargeable battery.
  • Seasonal Adjustment: In winter months or areas with less sunlight, ensure the solar panel is angled to capture as much direct sunlight as possible. Reduced sunlight will result in shorter illumination times.

9. Troubleshooting

If your solar spot light is not functioning as expected, try the following troubleshooting steps:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Light does not turn on at night.
  • Light is not activated.
  • Insufficient sunlight for charging.
  • Solar panel is dirty or obstructed.
  • Battery is depleted or faulty.
  • Ambient light is too high.
  • Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to activate.
  • Relocate the light to an area with 6-8 hours of direct sunlight.
  • Clean the solar panel. Remove any obstructions.
  • Allow several days for charging. If issue persists, replace the AAA rechargeable battery.
  • Ensure the light sensor is not exposed to other light sources at night (e.g., streetlights, house lights).
Light stays on during the day.
  • Light sensor is obstructed or faulty.
  • Ensure the solar panel and light sensor are clean and unobstructed.
Short illumination time.
  • Insufficient charging.
  • Cold weather conditions.
  • Battery degradation.
  • Ensure solar panel receives maximum direct sunlight.
  • This is normal in temperatures below 65°F.
  • Replace the AAA rechargeable battery.
