3. Setup Instructions

3.1 Placement

Optimal placement of the subwoofer is crucial for sound quality. Experiment with different locations in your room. Corner placement often provides the most output, while placement along a wall can offer a more balanced sound. Avoid placing the subwoofer directly in a cabinet or enclosed space, as this can negatively impact performance.

3.2 Wired Connection

1. Ensure all audio equipment is powered off before making connections.
2. For LFE (Low-Frequency Effects) connection, use a single RCA cable from your AV receiver's LFE output to the LFE input on the HT/1205.
3. For low-level stereo connection, use two RCA cables from your pre-amplifier or receiver's stereo outputs to the LEFT and RIGHT LOW LEVEL inputs on the HT/1205.
4. Connect the power cable to the subwoofer and then to a wall outlet.

3.3 Wireless Connection (HT-Air, optional)

If using the optional HT-Air Wireless system, refer to the HT-Air manual for specific pairing instructions. The HT-Air system allows for flexible placement without long cable runs, maintaining sound quality with zero compression.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

Locate the power switch on the rear panel. Set it to 'ON' to power on the subwoofer. The 'STATUS' indicator will illuminate. The subwoofer also features an 'AUTO' mode for automatic power on/off based on audio signal detection.

4.2 Adjusting Controls

• Phase: Adjust the phase control (0 or 180 degrees) to ensure the subwoofer's output is in phase with your main speakers. Listen for the most coherent and impactful bass.
• Crossover: The 'CROSSOVER' knob sets the upper frequency limit of the subwoofer. Adjust this to blend seamlessly with your main speakers. Start with a lower setting and gradually increase until the bass sounds integrated, not boomy or disconnected.
• Level: The 'LEVEL' knob controls the overall output volume of the subwoofer. Adjust this to achieve the desired bass intensity without overpowering the main speakers.

Make small adjustments to each control and listen carefully to the results. It may take some time to find the optimal settings for your room and system.

5. Maintenance

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the cabinet. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Placement: Ensure adequate ventilation around the subwoofer to prevent overheating. Do not block the rear panel or place it in direct sunlight.
• Handling: When moving the subwoofer, always lift it carefully from the base. Avoid dropping or subjecting it to strong impacts.

6. Troubleshooting

• No Sound: Check power connections, ensure the subwoofer is powered on, and verify audio input cables are securely connected. Confirm the source device is playing audio and the receiver's subwoofer output is enabled.
• Distorted Sound: Reduce the 'LEVEL' control. Check for loose connections or damaged cables. Ensure the subwoofer is not overdriven.
• Boomy or Uncontrolled Bass: Adjust the 'CROSSOVER' and 'LEVEL' controls. Experiment with subwoofer placement to reduce room modes.
• Lack of Bass Impact: Verify the 'PHASE' setting. Ensure the 'LEVEL' control is adequately set. Check if the LFE or low-level input is correctly configured on your receiver.
