1. Introduction
The Aqara Zigbee Door and Window Sensor is a wireless contact sensor designed to enhance home security and enable smart home automation. It detects the opening and closing status of doors, windows, drawers, or other similar fixtures. This sensor requires an Aqara Hub (sold separately) to function and integrate with smart home ecosystems like Apple HomeKit and Alexa.

3. Setup
3.1 Prerequisites
- An Aqara Hub (M2/M1S/E1/M1S Gen2 or Camera Hub G2H Pro/G2H/G3) is required and sold separately. Third-party hubs are not supported.
- A secured 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network connection for Hub M2/M1S/E1/M1S Gen2 and Camera Hub G2H Pro/G2H. For Camera Hub G3, 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi is supported.
- Ensure the Aqara Hub and Wi-Fi router are on the same local area network (LAN).
3.2 Pairing with Aqara Hub
- Open the Aqara Home app and follow the instructions to add a new device.
- To put the sensor into pairing mode, press and hold the button on the main sensor unit for exactly 3 seconds. The indicator light will flash to confirm pairing mode.
- Once paired, the sensor will appear in your Aqara Home app.
3.3 Placement and Installation
- Proximity: For a stable connection, ensure the Aqara Door and Window Sensor is within 400 inches (approximately 10 meters) of the Aqara Zigbee hub. The hub should also be within a similar range of the Wi-Fi router.
- Surface: Ensure the surface where you plan to attach the sensor is flat and clean for optimal adhesion.
- Gap Allowance: The sensor is designed to work with a maximum gap of 0.86 inches (2.2 cm) between the main sensor unit and the magnet.
- Attachment: Use the provided adhesive stickers to attach the main sensor unit to the door/window frame and the magnet to the moving part of the door/window. Align them so they are close to each other when the door/window is closed.

4. Operating Instructions
Once installed and paired, the Aqara Door and Window Sensor will detect when a door or window is opened or closed by sensing the separation or proximity of its two components (main unit and magnet).
- Real-time Alerts: Receive instant notifications on your smartphone via the Aqara Home app when a door or window is opened unexpectedly. The Aqara Hub can also trigger a local alarm.
- Home Automation: Integrate the sensor with other Aqara devices to create automated routines. For example, you can set lights to turn on automatically when a door is opened, or adjust climate control based on window status.
- Voice Control: The sensor is compatible with Apple HomeKit and Alexa, allowing for hands-free status checks and integration into voice-activated routines.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Battery Replacement
The sensor is powered by one Lithium Metal battery (included). The typical battery life is approximately 2 years. When the battery level is low, you will receive a notification via the Aqara Home app. To replace the battery:
- Gently pry open the cover of the main sensor unit.
- Remove the old battery.
- Insert a new Lithium Metal battery (CR1632 or equivalent), ensuring correct polarity.
- Close the cover securely.

6. Troubleshooting
- Sensor Not Connecting/Dropping Off Network:
- Ensure the sensor is within 400 inches of the Aqara Hub.
- Verify the Aqara Hub is powered on and connected to a stable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Try re-pairing the sensor by pressing its button for 3 seconds.
- Check the battery level in the Aqara Home app and replace if necessary.
- Inaccurate or Bouncing Open/Close Readings:
- Ensure the main sensor unit and magnet are securely attached and properly aligned.
- Verify the gap between the sensor and magnet does not exceed 0.86 inches when closed.
- Clean the sensor and magnet surfaces if dust or debris is interfering with detection.
- No Notifications or Automation Triggers:
- Confirm the sensor is successfully paired with the Aqara Hub.
- Check your automation rules and notification settings in the Aqara Home app.
- Ensure your Aqara Hub has a stable internet connection.
