1. Product Overview

The SAWO CUMULUS electric sauna heater, model NB, is designed for small to medium-sized saunas, accommodating 3 to 6 people. It features a robust stainless steel outer casing with a steatite front, providing both durability and a modern aesthetic. Internal components are constructed from aluminum zinc to extend the heater's lifespan. The heater can hold up to 22 kg of sauna stones (not included).

An integrated control unit (Model NB) allows for convenient operation. This control unit can be positioned on the left, right, or center for user preference. The heater also includes a heat reflector, which protects the wall behind the heater and ensures warm air circulation to the lower parts of the sauna.

2. Safety Instructions

Important: Read all safety instructions carefully before installation and operation to prevent electric shock, fire, or injury.

  • Professional Installation: A certified electrician must install the sauna heater to ensure safety and reliability. Improper electrical connections can lead to electric shock or fire.
  • Sauna Stones: Use only genuine sauna stones. Never use ceramic stones or other artificial stones, as they may cause damage to the heater or pose a safety risk.
  • Sauna Construction: For optimal performance and safety, the sauna structure must be properly built. The heater's power should be selected based on the sauna's size, materials, internal wall materials, and insulation.
  • Air Circulation: Ensure effective air circulation within the sauna for proper heating and ventilation.
  • Clearances: Maintain specified safety distances from walls and ceiling as detailed in the installation section.
  • Water: Only pour water on the sauna stones. Do not pour water directly onto the heating elements or other parts of the heater.

3. Installation

The SAWO CUMULUS heater is designed for wall mounting using a mounting stand. Ensure the installation location adheres to the specified safety distances.

3.1 Electrical Connection

This is a multi-voltage sauna heater, compatible with:

  • Single-phase 230 V (fuse: 1 x 40 A)
  • Three-phase 400 V (fuse: 3 x 10 A)

The silicone connection cable is not included and must be purchased separately. Always consult a certified electrician for electrical connections.

3.2 Mounting and Clearances

Mount the heater securely to the wall using the provided mounting stand. Observe the following minimum safety distances:

  • To Ceiling: 1200 mm
  • To Sides: 100 mm

The included heat reflector should be installed to protect the wall behind the heater and aid in air circulation.

4. Operation

The SAWO CUMULUS heater features an ergonomic and safe integrated control unit (Model NB) with a thermostat and timer.

4.1 Control Unit Adjustment

The built-in control block can be moved from the center to the right or left side, allowing you to choose the most convenient position for operating the sauna heater.

4.2 Thermostat

The thermostat allows you to set the desired sauna temperature by turning the switch. The thermostat will automatically maintain the selected temperature between +60°C and +90°C, depending on user preference.

4.3 Timer

The timer has two settings:

  • Preset Time (White): 1-8 hours
  • Operating Time (Pink): 1-4 hours

Switches are equipped with integrated lighting to assist in setting the heater in darker environments.

4.4 Aroma Cups

The steatite front of the heater includes two aroma cups. These can be used with essential oils or sauna fragrances to enhance your sauna experience. Always follow the instructions for your chosen aroma products.

4.5 Heating Time

If the sauna heater's capacity is correctly matched to the sauna volume, it will take approximately one hour to reach the desired temperature.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your SAWO CUMULUS sauna heater.

  • Cleaning: Periodically wipe the exterior of the heater with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the heater is cool and disconnected from power before cleaning.
  • Sauna Stones: Inspect sauna stones regularly. Replace any cracked, crumbling, or excessively small stones to ensure proper heat distribution and prevent damage to heating elements.
  • Heating Elements: Visually inspect heating elements for any signs of damage or corrosion. If any issues are observed, contact a qualified service technician.
  • Air Vents: Ensure that the air vents around the heater are not obstructed to maintain proper air circulation.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your SAWO CUMULUS sauna heater, consider the following general advice. For complex problems or electrical issues, always contact a certified electrician or qualified service technician.

  • Heater Not Heating: Check the power supply and circuit breaker. Ensure the timer and thermostat settings are correct. Verify that the sauna stones are properly placed and not obstructing heating elements.
  • Insufficient Heat: Confirm the sauna volume is within the recommended range for a 9.0 kW heater (8-14 m³). Check for proper sauna insulation and ensure the sauna door is sealed. Verify that the thermostat is set to a sufficiently high temperature.
  • Unusual Noises or Odors: Immediately switch off the heater and disconnect it from the power supply. Contact a qualified technician for inspection.
