2. Safety Information
Always operate your RC equipment responsibly and safely. Failure to do so may result in injury or damage to property. Please observe the following safety guidelines:
- Ensure all connections are secure before operation.
- Never operate your RC model in crowded areas, near people, or over public roads.
- Keep the transmitter and receiver away from moisture and extreme temperatures.
- Regularly check battery levels for both the transmitter and the model.
- Always turn on the transmitter first, then the receiver. When powering off, turn off the receiver first, then the transmitter.
- Familiarize yourself with local regulations regarding RC model operation.
3. Setup Guide
3.1 Package Contents
Verify that your package contains the following items:
- FLYSKY FS-i6 6CH 2.4GHz Transmitter
- FLYSKY FS-iA6 6-Channel Receiver
- Binding Plug
- User Manual (this document)
3.2 Battery Installation (Transmitter)
The FS-i6 transmitter requires 4 AA batteries (not included). Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the transmitter and insert the batteries, observing the correct polarity. Close the cover securely.
3.3 Receiver Connection
Connect the FS-iA6 receiver to your RC model's Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) and servos. The receiver has clearly labeled channels (CH1-CH6) and power/battery input (B/VCC).

Figure 2: Close-up view of the FS-iA6 receiver showing channel connections (S, +, -).
Ensure the signal (S), positive (+), and negative (-) wires from your ESC and servos are connected to the corresponding pins on the receiver. Typically, the ESC connects to CH3 for throttle control, and other channels are used for steering, ailerons, elevator, etc., depending on your model type.
3.4 Binding the Transmitter and Receiver
The FS-i6 transmitter and FS-iA6 receiver are pre-bound in most cases. However, if re-binding is necessary or if you are using a new receiver, follow these steps:
- Ensure the transmitter is powered off.
- Insert the binding plug into the B/VCC port on the FS-iA6 receiver.
- Power on the receiver (e.g., by connecting the ESC with a battery). The receiver's LED should flash rapidly, indicating it's in binding mode.
- While holding down the "BIND KEY" button on the FS-i6 transmitter, power on the transmitter.
- The transmitter's LCD screen will display "RxBinding..." and then "RxBind OK" once binding is successful. The receiver's LED will turn solid.
- Release the "BIND KEY" button and power off both the transmitter and receiver.
- Remove the binding plug from the receiver.
- Power on the transmitter first, then the receiver. The receiver's LED should be solid, indicating a successful connection.
Watch the video below for a visual guide on the binding process:

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Transmitter Controls Overview
The FS-i6 transmitter features two main control sticks, various switches, and a backlit LCD screen for configuration and monitoring.

Figure 3: Detailed view of the FS-i6 transmitter's LCD screen and primary controls.
- Sticks: Control primary flight/driving functions (throttle, aileron, elevator, rudder).
- Switches: Used for auxiliary functions such as flight modes, gear, flaps, or other programmable features.
- LCD Screen: Displays real-time information, menu options, and system status.
- Buttons: Navigate menus and confirm selections.
4.2 Menu Navigation
To access and configure settings, use the navigation buttons around the LCD screen. The "OK" button typically confirms a selection, and "CANCEL" or "BACK" returns to the previous menu.
Key menu options include:
- System Setup: For general transmitter settings, model selection, and binding.
- Functions: To adjust servo directions, sub-trims, end points, and mixes.
- Display: To view channel outputs and monitor receiver voltage.
The system supports various models and can be upgraded to expand channels. It also features a dot matrix LCD backlit screen for clear digital information display.

5. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable performance of your FS-i6 radio system:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the transmitter and receiver. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents.
- Storage: Store the system in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, remove batteries from the transmitter.
- Battery Care: Always use fresh, high-quality batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries. Dispose of depleted batteries responsibly.
- Firmware: Check the official FLYSKY website periodically for firmware updates that may enhance performance or add features.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your FS-i6 radio system, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Transmitter does not power on. | Low or dead batteries; incorrect battery polarity. | Replace batteries; check battery orientation. |
| Receiver LED flashing rapidly. | Receiver is in binding mode or not bound. | Perform the binding procedure (Section 3.4). |
| No control response from model. | Receiver not bound; incorrect servo connections; low receiver voltage. | Re-bind the system; verify all servo connections; check receiver power supply. |
| "Err:1%" or similar error on LCD. | Indicates a communication error or signal loss. | Ensure transmitter and receiver are within range and free from interference. Check receiver antenna placement. |
| Controls are reversed. | Servo reverse setting is incorrect. | Adjust servo reverse settings in the transmitter's menu. |
