Setup

Pre-installation Checklist

• Tools Required: Phillips head screwdriver, wire strippers, ladder (if necessary).
• Location: Choose an outdoor location with a standard electrical junction box and a strong 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal.
• Power: Ensure the power to the existing floodlight or junction box is turned OFF at the circuit breaker.

Installation Steps

1. Disconnect Power: Turn off the power to the floodlight circuit at your home's main electrical panel.
2. Remove Existing Fixture: Carefully remove your existing floodlight fixture from the junction box.
3. Install Mounting Plate: Attach the provided mounting plate to the junction box using the supplied screws. Ensure the foam gasket on the mounting plate creates a seal against the wall.
4. Wire Connections: Connect the wires from the floodlight camera to your home's electrical wiring:
   • Connect the black wire (Live) from the camera to the black wire from your home's wiring using a wire nut.
   • Connect the white wire (Neutral) from the camera to the white wire from your home's wiring using a wire nut.
   • Connect the green or bare copper wire (Ground) from the camera to the ground wire from your home's wiring using a wire nut.

   Carefully tuck the wires into the junction box.
5. Mount the Camera: Align the camera unit with the mounting plate and secure it with the provided screws. Ensure a tight seal to prevent water intrusion.
6. Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker. The floodlight camera should power on.

App Installation and Wi-Fi Connection

1. Download App: Download the "RCA Security App" from your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android).
2. Create Account: Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to create a new user account.
3. Add Device: Select the option to add a new device. The app will guide you through the process. You may need to scan a QR code on the camera or manually enter device details.
4. Connect to Wi-Fi: Follow the app's instructions to connect the camera to your home's 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Note: This camera requires a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection. If your router broadcasts both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, ensure your phone is connected to the 2.4GHz network during setup.
5. Configuration: Once connected, you can configure settings such as motion detection zones, alert preferences, and recording options within the app.

Operating the Camera

Live View and Recording

• Open the RCA Security App on your smartphone.
• Select your Flood Light Camera from the device list to access the live video feed.
• From the live view screen, you can manually initiate video recording or capture snapshots.

Motion Detection and Alerts

• The camera features a smart motion sensor that triggers recording and alerts.

• The ultra-bright 3000K 2500LM LED lights can be activated by motion or manually controlled via the app.

Two-Way Audio

• Firmware Updates: Check the RCA Security App regularly for available firmware updates. Updates can improve performance, add features, and enhance security. Follow the in-app instructions for any updates.

Troubleshooting

• No Power to Camera:
  • Check the circuit breaker to ensure power is on.
  • Verify all electrical connections are secure and correct (black to black, white to white, ground to ground).
• Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi:
  • Ensure your router is broadcasting a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal. The camera does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi.
  • Confirm your smartphone is connected to the 2.4GHz network during the setup process.
  • Move the camera closer to the Wi-Fi router or consider a Wi-Fi extender if the signal is weak.
• No Video Playback or Recording Issues:
  • The Micro SD card may be corrupted or faulty. Try reformatting the SD card via the app.
  • If reformatting does not resolve the issue, replace the SD card with a new, high-quality (U3-level) Micro SD card.
  • Ensure the SD card is properly inserted into its slot.
• Excessive Motion Alerts / Too Sensitive:
  • Adjust the motion detection sensitivity settings within the RCA Security App to a lower level.
  • Define specific motion detection zones to exclude areas with frequent, non-threatening movement (e.g., trees swaying).
• Lights Not Activating:
  • Check motion detection settings and sensitivity.
  • Ensure the light control in the app is not set to 'off' or a low brightness level.
