Setup and Installation Instructions

Follow these steps carefully to install your Korky 5030BP Adjustable Toilet Flush Valve and Tank to Bowl Gasket Kit.

  1. Turn Off Water Supply: Locate the water supply valve behind or near the toilet and turn it clockwise until the water flow stops completely.
  2. Flush Toilet: Flush the toilet to empty the tank. Hold the handle down to drain as much water as possible.
  3. Remove Remaining Water: Use a sponge or towel to soak up any remaining water in the tank.
  4. Disconnect Supply Line: Disconnect the water supply line from the fill valve at the bottom of the tank.
  5. Remove Old Tank: Loosen and remove the nuts and bolts that secure the toilet tank to the bowl. Carefully lift the tank off the bowl and set it aside on a protected surface.
  6. Remove Old Components: Remove the old flush valve and tank-to-bowl gasket from the tank. Clean the area thoroughly where the new gasket and flush valve will sit.
  7. Install New Tank to Bowl Gasket: Place the new Korky tank-to-bowl gasket onto the bottom of the flush valve opening on the toilet tank. Ensure it is seated correctly.
  8. Install New Flush Valve: Insert the new Korky adjustable flush valve into the opening from inside the tank. Secure it from the underside of the tank using the provided large nut, tightening it hand-tight, then a quarter turn with a wrench.
  9. Adjust Flush Valve Height: The flush valve height can be easily adjusted from 7 inches to 11-1/2 inches without tools or hack sawing. Simply twist and extend or retract the overflow tube to the desired height, ensuring it is below the tank's overflow hole.
  10. Reattach Tank to Bowl: Carefully place the toilet tank back onto the toilet bowl, aligning the bolt holes. Insert the new mounting bolts, washers, and nuts. Tighten the nuts evenly, alternating sides, until the tank is secure and stable, but do not overtighten.
  11. Reconnect Water Supply: Reconnect the water supply line to the fill valve.
  12. Turn On Water Supply: Slowly turn the water supply valve counter-clockwise to restore water flow to the tank.
  13. Test Flush: Allow the tank to fill completely, then flush the toilet several times to check for leaks around the tank-to-bowl connection and the flush valve. Ensure the flapper seals properly after each flush.

Operating Instructions

Once installed, the Korky 5030BP flush valve operates automatically with your toilet's flush handle. When the handle is pressed, the integrated flapper lifts, allowing water to flow from the tank into the bowl for flushing. After the flush cycle, the flapper will return to its sealed position, allowing the tank to refill. The oversized tube and funnel design helps to ensure efficient water flow and reduce the risk of overflow.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance can extend the life of your Korky flush valve and prevent future issues.

  • Periodic Inspection: Periodically inspect the flapper and tank-to-bowl gasket for signs of wear, cracking, or deterioration.
  • Cleaning: If mineral deposits or debris accumulate on the flapper or flush valve seat, gently clean them with a soft brush and mild cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage rubber components.
  • Leak Check: Regularly check for any signs of leaks around the base of the tank or where the flush valve connects. Address any leaks promptly to prevent water waste and potential damage.
