This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your WORX WG779 Cordless Lawn Mower.

2. Key Features

  • Quick-Start 40V Power: Delivers robust 40V power with (2) 20V 4.0Ah batteries, ideal for cutting up to 1/8 acre. Starts fast—simply push a button and pull the bail handle. Quickly charge both batteries with included dual charger.
  • Same Battery, Expandable Power: The same PowerShare batteries that run this push lawn mower can conveniently be used with 140+ power tools, outdoor power equipment, and lifestyle products from the WORX PowerShare platform.
  • Intellicut Technology: Patented sensor technology automatically adjusts cutting speed to match the grass conditions. Intellicut increases cutting speed when it detects dense grass for smoother mowing, but slows down in less demanding turf to save on battery.
  • Compact & Lightweight: Just under 30 lbs., this lightweight lawn mower is easy to push up hills. The compact 14" deck effortlessly cuts narrow areas. The fully collapsible handle saves storage space and the easy-carry handle ensures smooth portability.
  • 6-Position Cutting Height Adjustment: Single lever rapidly raises and lowers the cutting deck from 1.5" to 3.5" so your cordless mower is always cutting at the ideal height for your lawn.
  • 2-in-1 Bagging/Mulching: Choose the way you cut with your lawn mower. Use the included mulch plug to nourish your lawn with fresh clippings or bag it up in the 0.85-bushel collection bag. The full-bag indicator lets you know when to empty.
  • Quiet Mowing: Skip the noise of gas and embrace the quieter operation of a battery powered lawn mower. With a low 87.8-decibel level, it cuts strong but stays quiet to be easier on your ears—and more peaceful for your neighbors.
  • Charge-Level Indicator: Designed to optimize the electric lawn mower cordless power, the onboard battery indicator quickly updates you on the charge status so you'll know when it's a good time to recharge.

3. Setup and Assembly

Before first use, ensure all components are present and undamaged. Assembly is straightforward and typically involves attaching the handle, securing the cord, and installing the grass collection bag or mulch plug.

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all contents from the packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage.
  2. Handle Assembly: Attach the upper handle to the lower handle using the provided hardware (e.g., nuts and bolts). Ensure the handle is securely fastened.
  3. Cord Management: Secure the power cord to the handle using the clips provided to prevent it from interfering with operation.
  4. Grass Collection Bag/Mulch Plug: Depending on your preferred cutting method, either attach the grass collection bag or insert the mulch plug. The mulch plug is typically pre-inserted for mulching.
  5. Battery Charging: Fully charge both 20V 4.0Ah PowerShare batteries using the included dual charger before initial use. Refer to the charger's instructions for proper charging procedures.

4. Operating Instructions

Operating your WORX lawn mower is designed to be simple and efficient.

  1. Inserting Batteries: Ensure the batteries are fully charged. Insert both 20V PowerShare batteries into their designated slots on the mower until they click into place.
  2. Adjusting Cutting Height: Use the single-lever height adjustment to select one of the 6 cutting positions, ranging from 1.5 inches to 3.5 inches. Adjust the height according to your lawn's condition and desired grass length.
  3. Starting the Mower: Press the quick-start button, then pull the bail handle towards the main handle. The mower will start. Release the bail handle to stop the mower.
  4. Mowing Technique: Push the mower at a steady pace. The Intellicut technology will automatically adjust the blade speed based on grass density, providing optimal cutting performance and battery efficiency. For best results, mow when the grass is dry.
  5. Bagging or Mulching:
    • Mulching: If the mulch plug is installed, clippings will be finely cut and returned to the lawn as natural fertilizer.
    • Bagging: If the grass collection bag is attached, clippings will be collected. Monitor the full-bag indicator and empty the bag when full to maintain optimal performance.
  6. Monitoring Battery Life: The onboard charge indicator provides a quick visual update on the remaining battery power. Recharge batteries when the indicator shows low charge.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your lawn mower.

  • Cleaning: After each use, disconnect the batteries and clean the mower deck and blades. Remove any accumulated grass clippings, dirt, or debris. Use a damp cloth; avoid using high-pressure water directly on electrical components.
  • Blade Inspection: Periodically inspect the cutting blade for sharpness and damage. A dull or damaged blade can lead to uneven cuts and strain the motor. Replace the blade if necessary.
  • Battery Care: Store batteries in a cool, dry place. Do not store fully discharged batteries for extended periods. Recharge them periodically if not in use.
  • Storage: When storing the mower for extended periods, especially during off-season, ensure it is clean and dry. The handle can be fully collapsed for compact storage.
