Setup and Assembly
Your Dirt Devil Quick & Light™ Carpet Washer comes partially assembled. Follow these steps for quick setup:
- Handle Assembly: Insert the handle into the main body of the carpet washer until it clicks securely into place. Ensure it is firmly seated to prevent wobbling during use.
- Solution Tank: Remove the clean water/solution tank from the front of the unit. Fill it with warm tap water and the recommended amount of Dirt Devil carpet cleaning solution, following the solution's instructions. Replace the tank securely.
- Recovery Tank: Ensure the dirty water recovery tank is empty and properly seated in its compartment.
- Power Cord: Unwind the power cord completely before plugging the unit into a grounded electrical outlet.
Operating Instructions
Follow these steps for effective carpet cleaning:
- Prepare the Area: Vacuum the carpet thoroughly to remove loose dirt and debris. Move furniture as needed.
- Fill Tanks: As described in the Setup section, ensure the clean water/solution tank is filled and the recovery tank is empty and properly installed.
- Power On: Plug the carpet washer into a grounded outlet. Turn on the power switch, usually located on the handle or base of the unit.
- Cleaning Strokes:
- Press the trigger to dispense cleaning solution as you push the unit forward slowly over the carpet.
- Release the trigger and pull the unit backward slowly over the same area to suction up the dirty solution.
- Overlap each cleaning path slightly to ensure thorough coverage.
- Spot Cleaning: For heavily soiled areas or stubborn stains, you may need to make multiple passes or pre-treat the area with a suitable carpet spot cleaner before using the machine.
- Monitor Tanks: Keep an eye on the clean water tank. Refill it when empty. The recovery tank will fill with dirty water; empty it when it reaches the "MAX FILL" line or when suction decreases.
- Finishing: Once cleaning is complete, make a few dry passes (without pressing the trigger) to remove as much moisture as possible from the carpet. This aids in faster drying.
- Power Off and Unplug: Turn off the unit and unplug it from the wall outlet.
