4. Setup

4.1 Installation

Mount the device securely on a wall at an appropriate height for fingerprint scanning. Ensure proper ventilation and avoid direct sunlight or extreme temperatures. Connect the device to a stable 12V DC power source as indicated on the rear panel.

4.2 Network Connection

The F22 supports multiple connection methods:

  • Wi-Fi: Navigate to the system settings on the device, select network configuration, and connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
  • TCP/IP: Connect an Ethernet cable to the RJ45 port on the back of the device and to your network switch/router. Configure IP settings (static or DHCP) via the device menu.
  • RS485: For connecting to external readers (e.g., FR1200, FR1500) or for specific network topologies, use the RS485 terminals as per the wiring diagram on the device's rear.

4.3 Initial Configuration

Upon first power-on, the device will prompt for initial setup, including date, time, and administrator registration. It is crucial to register at least one administrator fingerprint or password for full access to device settings.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 User Management

To add new users:

  1. Access the main menu using the administrator credentials.
  2. Select "User Mgt" (User Management).
  3. Choose "New User" and enter the user ID.
  4. Register the user's fingerprint by placing their finger on the sensor multiple times until successfully enrolled.
  5. Optionally, register a password or ID card.
  6. Assign user roles (e.g., normal user, administrator).

5.2 Access Control Settings

Configure access rules and schedules:

  • From the main menu, select "Access Control".
  • Set up time zones, access groups, and unlock combinations.
  • Assign access groups to individual users to define their permitted entry times and days.

5.3 Attendance Management

The F22 automatically records attendance based on user authentications. Ensure correct date and time settings for accurate reporting.

5.4 Data Management

To retrieve attendance logs and user data:

  • Connect a USB flash drive to the USB host port on the device.
  • Navigate to "Data Mgt" (Data Management) in the main menu.
  • Select options to download attendance logs or user information to the USB drive.
  • Alternatively, use the ZKTeco software (e.g., ZKAccess, ZKTime) connected via TCP/IP or Wi-Fi to manage and download data remotely.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Regularly clean the fingerprint sensor and screen with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or liquids that could damage the device components.

6.2 Software Updates

Periodically check the ZKTeco official website for firmware updates. Updates can improve performance, add new features, or address security vulnerabilities. Follow the provided instructions carefully when performing updates.
