  3. Position the Shark: Place the motorized shark in the designated center area of the game board. Ensure its rotation arm can move freely.

How to Play (Operating)

The objective of Shark Chase is to be the last fish remaining on the board. Players race their fish around the board while avoiding the chomping shark.

Game Start

  • The youngest player goes first. Play proceeds clockwise.
  • Turn on the shark by pressing the button. The shark's arm will begin to rotate and chomp.

Player Turn

  1. Roll the Dice: On your turn, roll both dice. The dice show colors corresponding to the fish movers.
  2. Move Your Fish: Move your fish mover forward the number of spaces indicated by the color on the dice. For example, if you roll a yellow and a red, and your fish is yellow, you move your yellow fish one space. If you roll two of your color, you move two spaces. If you roll a color that is not yours, that player moves their fish one space.
  3. Avoid the Shark: As the shark's arm rotates, it will attempt to "chase" and "chomp" fish. If the shark's mouth closes on your fish, your fish is out of the game. Remove your fish from the board.

Game Rules

  • Players must move their fish according to the dice roll.
  • If a player's fish is chomped by the shark, that player is eliminated from the current round.
  • The game continues until only one fish remains on the board. That player is the winner!
  • If the shark chomps all fish simultaneously, the game is a draw, or players can choose to restart.

Maintenance

Proper care will ensure the longevity of your game:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the game board and plastic components with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: Store the game in its original box in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Battery Care: Remove batteries from the shark if the game will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
  • Board Care: If the game board shows signs of separation at the folds, a strip of strong tape applied to the underside can reinforce it without affecting play.

Troubleshooting

ProblemSolution
Shark is not moving or chomping.
  • Ensure the power button on the shark is pressed.
  • Check if the 2 AA batteries are correctly inserted and not depleted. Replace if necessary.
  • Verify that the shark's rotation arm is not obstructed.
Game board is separating at the folds. This can occur with repeated folding. Apply a strong, clear tape to the underside of the board along the fold lines to reinforce it. This will not affect the ability to fold the board for storage.
