1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient installation, operation, and maintenance of your ELDOM Favourite WH05039L horizontal storage water heater. Please read these instructions carefully before installation and use, and retain them for future reference. This water heater is designed for horizontal installation, making it suitable for spaces where a vertical boiler may not fit.
Key features include thick, dense CFC-free insulation for minimal energy loss, a high-temperature resistant boiler lining, antifreeze protection, and dual magnesium anode systems to protect against rust. The unit is CE certified, ensuring compliance with European safety standards, and includes a 3-in-1 metallic combined safety valve.

2. Safety Information
WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions could result in electric shock, fire, property damage, or personal injury.
- Installation and maintenance must be performed by qualified personnel in accordance with local regulations and this manual.
- Ensure the electrical supply matches the specifications of the water heater (230V, 2kW).
- Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance or service.
- Do not operate the water heater if it is damaged or malfunctioning.
- The water heater must be properly grounded.
- Do not block the safety valve. Regular inspection of the safety valve is recommended.
- Keep flammable materials away from the water heater.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
- Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
3. Setup & Installation
The ELDOM WH05039L is designed for horizontal wall mounting. Ensure the mounting surface is structurally sound and capable of supporting the water heater's weight when full (approx. 19 kg empty + 50 kg water = 69 kg).
3.1 Mounting
Mount the water heater horizontally using appropriate wall anchors and brackets (not always included, check packaging). Refer to the dimension diagram for precise measurements and mounting points.

Figure 2: Technical diagrams showing dimensions, internal components, and connection points. Note the left-side connections.
The diagram illustrates the external dimensions (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, M) and internal structure. Pay attention to the mounting points (labeled 4 in the top-left diagram) and the position of the heating element (5 in the bottom-left diagram).
3.2 Plumbing Connections
The water heater features connections on the left side. Ensure proper plumbing for hot and cold water lines.
- Hot water outlet (1): Connect to the hot water supply system.
- Cold water inlet - Drain (2): Connect to the cold water supply. This connection also serves as the drain point.
- Safety Valve: Install the included 3-in-1 metallic combined safety valve on the cold water inlet. This valve is crucial for pressure relief and preventing backflow. Ensure the discharge pipe from the safety valve is routed to an open drain.
All connections are G1/2M. Use appropriate sealing materials to prevent leaks.
3.3 Electrical Connection
Connect the water heater to a dedicated electrical circuit. The unit requires 230 Volts (AC) and has a power rating of 2 kW (10 Amperes). Ensure the circuit is protected by a suitable circuit breaker and that proper grounding is established.
- The electrical connection point is typically located under the control panel cover (4 in the top-right diagram).
- Ensure all wiring is secure and insulated.
- The on/off switch is illuminated and waterproof.
4. Operation
Once installed and filled with water, the ELDOM WH05039L is ready for operation.
4.1 Filling the Water Heater
- Before switching on the power, ensure the water heater is completely filled with water.
- Open a hot water tap in your home to allow air to escape from the tank.
- Open the cold water inlet valve to fill the tank.
- Once water flows steadily from the hot water tap, the tank is full. Close the hot water tap.
4.2 Powering On and Temperature Setting
- Switch on the main power supply to the water heater using the illuminated on/off switch.
- Adjust the desired water temperature using the external mechanical thermostat. The temperature indicator (3 in the top-right diagram) will show the current water temperature.
- The recommended thermostat setting for optimal energy efficiency and safety is typically around 60°C.
4.3 Antifreeze Protection
The water heater is equipped with antifreeze protection. In cold environments, this feature helps prevent water inside the tank from freezing, protecting the unit from damage. However, for prolonged periods of non-use in freezing conditions, it is advisable to drain the water heater completely.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your ELDOM water heater.
5.1 Magnesium Anode Inspection and Replacement
The water heater features two magnesium anode systems to protect the tank from corrosion and rust. These anodes are sacrificial and deplete over time. It is recommended to have them inspected annually by a qualified technician and replaced as necessary, typically every 1-3 years depending on water quality.
5.2 Draining the Water Heater
Draining may be required for maintenance, prolonged periods of non-use, or to prevent freezing. To drain:
- Turn off the electrical power supply to the water heater.
- Close the cold water inlet valve.
- Open a hot water tap in your home to relieve pressure and allow air into the tank.
- Connect a hose to the cold water inlet/drain connection (2) and route it to a suitable drain.
- Open the drain valve (if separate, or use the cold water inlet connection) to allow water to flow out.
- Once drained, close the drain valve and hot water tap.
5.3 Safety Valve Check
Periodically check the safety valve by lifting the lever to ensure it operates freely and discharges water. This helps prevent mineral buildup. If the valve does not discharge water or leaks continuously, it may need replacement.
5.4 Cleaning
Clean the exterior of the water heater with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
6. Troubleshooting
This section provides solutions to common issues. For problems not listed here, or if you are unsure, contact qualified service personnel.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No hot water | No power, thermostat set too low, heating element failure. | Check power supply and circuit breaker. Adjust thermostat. If element failure is suspected, contact service. |
| Water not hot enough | Thermostat set too low, excessive hot water usage, sediment buildup. | Increase thermostat setting. Allow recovery time between uses. Consider draining and flushing the tank. |
| Water leaks | Loose connections, faulty safety valve, tank corrosion. | Tighten connections. Inspect and replace safety valve if necessary. Tank corrosion usually requires replacement. |
| Unusual noises (e.g., popping, rumbling) | Sediment buildup in the tank. | Drain and flush the tank to remove sediment. |
